2013 Kioti CK35 HST
Just put in 3 hours bush hogging on the new 2013 ck35 hst. I love the hst stuff as everyone else seems to also.

But my question is, is it supposed to go slower in reverse?

And another question. I opened the hood and was happy to see a screen covering the radiator, and it was clogged pretty good with all of this dead winter seeds and pods or whatever that stuff is. It had a hand screw that you could remove, and I thought I was going to be able to pull the screen out and clean it off. But there's no was to get that screen out...why the screw. To clean that screen where it is and then get all the junk out is a pain.

Yes, they all go somewhat slower in reverse, not sure why, they just do. Your Rad screen should lift right out. Check to see if it's binding somewhere.

There is no way for it to come out. You would have to remove 5 screws (6 counting the thumb screw) to lift it out the top. And then I'm not sure that would work anyways. And for it to come out the left or right would not work...it's 2 inches taller than the opening. What year is yours?

I'm looking at Workshop manual that seems to say exactly what you are saying. But mine is definitely different.

See the gold bolt. There's 2 of them to come out. But you still can't get it up even if you do. And then see the 3 bolts on the next level, they need to come out. This is nothing like the manuel :-(

Remove the wing nut on the right side, then remove the right side engine cover just above the oil filter. It is held in with some rubber clips. Then slide the screen out the right side.

Thanks, that did it. I doubt I would have ever guessed that.

Yes they go slower in reverse, mine included, most tractors do. I've never pulled the rad screen, just blast it off with the air compressor. Looks like it would be hard to pull it, lots of stuff in the way.

Read post #4 above, it tells how to easily pull the screen.

All of the screens are made to be removed when you are out in the field without tools.. The idea is that they need to be kept clean, and when mowing certain high weeds with lots of "fluff" they will clog up quickly and need to be cleaned at least in a cursory manner out in the field with no tools and no air. You can swish them in the air backwards to remove enough to get you going again for a while without overheating the tractor. Keep an eye on the temp. gauge when mowing this kind of stuff, and stop and clean often to prevent overheating.. because a warped head/blown gasket is not a good thing. Many people keep a small brush handy to brush them with.

OK, I actually haven't looked closely at the screen, and I also haven't mowed for more than 2 or 3 hours with moderate temperatures. I do keep an eye on the temp gauge, and it has never gone past the second dot. I clean the screen after any substantial use of the tractor (in the warmer months). I've had a blown head gasket on a lawn tractor (actually what started my large tractor acquisitions), so I know what that's like!
