CK35 HST Price Check FEL & BH

Hi,

I'm looking at a CK35 HST with 'free' FEL, rebated KB2475 backhoe, rimguard filled tires, 3 chain welds on the bucket, 2nd rear remote $300, and free delivery. I was quoted $18,790 for the tractor and $5,990 for the backhoe. Grand total $25,080. Sound good, too high?

I'm going to be doing barn cleanup (thick hay / manure / muck), digging drainage, clearing smaller trees, moving stone, making driveway, foundation building, digging holes, etc... My biggest 'issue' is that my barn has a pole every 8 feet width-wise, and 10 feet length-wise, and I need to be able to maneuver in there. Tricky yes.

One more item, there dealer says even though Kioti doesn't list / recommend it, I could go up one size in backhoe to the KB2485 for an extra $500. What do you think? Would it be too rough on the tractor? Would the digging force / reach, and if I didn't go crazy with it, be worth the risks?

Get a QA attach bucket and a grapple for the FEL - for manure / hay intermixed that would be the best - they make a manure grapple too with forks- check everything attachments for these, but I think a standard grapple would be fine.

Also check clearance on the BH and ceiling height in barn. Also it sounds like you will be driving in getting a load of manure and backing out. You might want to consider a rear blade too for cleanup of manure or snow removal in the winter.

Cant comment on price - seems fair but I don't know Kioti pricing.

I was thinking about bolting on the toothbar to the bucket. The barn's ceiling height is 8 feet. The bh should clear but the Rops will have to be fold down to at least 45 degrees.

With a toothbar you will get some results, but you will need to muck around a lot to get a bucket full and and the grapple is a year round tool for logs, brush, rock pickup, and many more functions.

I spent my first 20 years with beef cattle on our farm and forked a lot of intertwined manure 2' deep in the spring after the winter, then we got a loader with tines - saved the day for sure, but a grapple would be best.

While your at it - get a mechanical thumb for your BH - that's a nice to have with a grapple if $ are tight. You can add a thumb to the BH later, but it you are doing firewood and log lengths its really nice to back up to the pile and grab a log and cut it up.

I think the thumb is $750 and I might as well add it now. I didn't think of it but yeah, it would be great to pick up a log and cut it while suspended. This tractor is going to literally change my life. I was thinking about getting the DK45 but it's a little too big for the barn I think.

I just checked the Kioti web site - the DK40 HST with the 401 FEL is much more tractor and clearances will work in your barn. The Hyd flow rate, lift capacity, and weight overall will be better for you.

This is an investment for the long term, and with the BH even bigger investment so go up a size is the best to do now rather than 2 years from now.

I would stick with the KB2475. It is plenty for the CK35. And folded up you will be surprised how tall it is (clears my garage opening by a couple inches). If you really need a bigger backhoe, you need more tractor to go with it.
