Kioti CK30HST, Kubota BX-1500,
I haven't changed the oil in a long time. In the meanwhile I got an oil suction pump: Amazon.com: FIRSTINFO A1102USY5 US. DE. Patent 6.5L Pneumatic/Manual Oil Extractor Pump for Automobile Fluids Vacuum Evacuation w/Hose Storage & 3.5 x 4.5mm Hose & Sealing Cap: Automotive

This works great on cars etc. but has anyone used one on the CK30 engine oil? I seem to remember there are two chambers and possibly sucking the oil out of the dipstick hole won't drain both of them?

It is a really easy way to remove oil and it does remove 99.489% in my experience!

Thanks,
Mike

I'm sure you could - but there could be problems. If your oil pan is two chambered, as mine is, you might not get all the oil. Why would you want to suck out the dipstick hole. Wouldn't the fill plug hole be easier. And finally - why not just pull the drain plugs and go that route.

I much prefer gravity drainage. Reality says you have to get the used oil in a container and a tractor what with high ground clearance is by far the easiest oil drain job I know of?
Doing a car in an apartment parking lot I might see the purpose much better.

Unless you know how the pan is configured deep down inside, you don't know if you've sucked out all the oil. I own and use a handy dandy HF diesel fuel & oil suction pump that would probably work OK for that purpose but I bought it to avoid hurting my shoulder for high re-fueling task and I've set it up for that job alone.

I've been sucking the oil out with an oil extractor on all 3 tractors. Checked it on the first one. Then opened the drain plug. NOTHING.

All well and good if you have one drain plug. But if you have a tractor with two drain plugs and the oil pan makes sort of a saddle with two separate reservoirs you might miss a bunch of oil. Some people may be concerned about that.

Thanks all, just lazy and thought somebody might have done it with the CK30.
-Can't use fill hole, no access to crankcase for tube
-I agree on effectiveness; same here; nothing came out of the drain hole of a a VW or a Lambardini diesel with the extractor, not a drop.

Think I'm going to take your idea for when (near 400 hours now, change at 450) I change the HST fluid on the 2025R. I've a 12v Ironton pump bought from Northern Tool that will be good for it. Might even use it to put the fluid in, as I could watch for it to show up in that circular sight glass. Otherwise, almost need 2 people on refill to find that level.

As noted, it's a lot trickier (if at all possible) with a split oil pan (that's what I have on my Kubota). I have no idea why I don't recall what's on my NX; it's just easy enough to crawl under and drain: it's like half the time you have to do something with hyrdaulics which requires going underneath, so coming up with some top-side solution just doesn't seem warranted.

I DO, however, do top-side oil drains on my VW TDIs: I'll also use the extractor to suck out oil from the oil canister (something that a bottom-side oil drain cannot accomplish). Same with my Polaris diesel. Smaller amounts of oil pump out fairly quickly; I wouldn't consider trying it with hydraulic fluid which can be many gallons (unless using an electric pump); note, however, that a fast pump can create a BIG mess very quickly- sometimes discharge hoses like to play games and that ends up with the shedding a lot of tears and or cuss words).
