Kind of obvious but FWIIW: My 05 ck30 has an excellent location with prop for a large hair dryer to go underneath the dash and point up toward the ignition lock.

Unfroze it in 3 minutes!

Spaying WD40 in the lock will often fix the frozen lock issue, also lube the switch at the same time.:)

I have been doing this to all my car & Trunck locks should work on an ingnition switch.;)

I work on cranes for a living and the best stuff I've used is Rust Check for ignitions, you can buy it in a small can, especially made for locks, doesn't evaporate or freeze, you can get it in a red or green can, had better luck with the stuff in the red can. Just my 2 cents Thanks

You can bugger up all kinds of electrical stuff by shooting wd-40 into the keyhole of a CK. Use electrical parts cleaner instead. First thing you'll notice is your tachometer bouncing around. The good news is that the parts cleaner will clean the wd-40 out.

WD-40 will evaporate with time anyways, it's just a water dispersant ( WD ), the number 40 comes from the number of times they actually tested the product that they were creating before it worked ( the 40th try is when they were satisfied with the product ) then they called it WD-40 ,water in the ignition will cause more problems than anything when it comes to electrical.

Just 2 notes on WD40, one its used to stop arcing in a distributer cap from moisture, and I know that works by disipating water, so it should not short things out, and a Lock is all mechanical other than the end of the lock farthest from the key hole, you would have to flood the keyhole and then some and most should just drip by. I have used it on ignition switches in my cars and others, and have never had issues, there may be better products, but this is something most of us have readily available.:) a known side effect is it gets rid of water, so lock does not freeze up a second time, takes a few months to for water to be able to wash away the WD40, and allow moisture to build up and freeze again.:DNote also water will do more damage to electrical than WD40.

Last year I plugged my block heater into an incandescent trouble light that I layed on the ignition. Everything would warm at once. Then I would go blow snow and get it all wet again.
