Hi folks:

I ran through the suggested remedies regarding the fuels filter, cap, etc. and now joy. The tractor still would not start although the fuel filter housing did fill back up with fuel.

I followed the excellent tutorial and information on these two pages:

Written by members Bernt'ys and Ritcheyvs on diagnosing injection pump problems. Following their directions I could not get the rack pin to move so it looks like I will be tearing down the top of the motor to pull out the ignition pump and getting someone to rebuild it.

I'm not certain that I want to attempt the rebuild myself.

2008 CK30 gear drive with 820 hours.

I guess my tractor will now be added to Ritcheyvs database of broken IPs.

There is a member who just opened up his pump on an older Ford. And it didn't go well. This is where a good diesel shop is needed that specializes in rebuilding IPs. I've used D&W in the Worcester area with great success. Pumpguysvc is a member here that does this for a living, if he chimes in, be sure to follow his advice.

I would take your pump off, and send it to pumpguysc!
EVERYONE seems to be VERY satisfied with his work!

Definitely send your pump to thepumpguysc or someone else you trust. Rebuilding injector pumps can be quite problematic.

OK folks, I need some more advice.

I have contacted thepumpguysc and he is ready to rebuild the pump.

When the pump was on the tractor I took the solenoid off and I could not get the rack pin to move. I tried my finger and a screwdriver through the oil fill access plate and it wouldn't budge.

Now that I have it off the tractor, the rack pin glides freely. Is the pump really at fault or is there something else???

When these fail, teeth break of the gears of the control sleeves inside the IP and the broken pieces can jam in the rack. Sometimes the jam clears itself, for a time, if the broken piece moves just right. IMO, since you have the IP out it should be inspected, as minimum.
I found fixing the IP (replacing control sleeves) very easy but potentially confusing because I wasn't sure what I should be seeing. Also, it is as easy to reassemble right as wrong, which could cause a runaway engine. The control sleeves must all be aligned the same and "timed" to shut off fuel when the rack is full aft. The new sleeves I bought had timing dots that align with marks on the rack when the alignment is right.
If it were me, I'd replace those three control sleeves with the new style parts even if the old ones look OK. Maybe your tractor already has the new style parts but who knows? But if you have the original type they will probably break eventually. So I'd just replace them while you have the IP removed, even if just for piece of mind.
