Kioti CK30 HST
Need to replace the front crankshaft oil seal on my 2006 Kioti CK30HST. I have a service manual but is very vague.I looks like I have to remove the front gear cover in order to get at the seal to replace it. Was wondering if one could pull the seal without removal of the cover? Does anyone have experience in this procedure? Thanks.

I have never replaced this seal, but can maybe help with some diagrams.
The service manual showed the seal as #1 installed in the case.
The parts manual is for a ck35 so part numbers may be different.
I would think you could remove the belt drive pulley from the crank shaft and then dig out the old seal.
Im sure others will chime in with help.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm hoping one could do it that way but I believe the seal rides on the crankshaft collar which may also be worn meaning one would have to remove the gear cover. The parts I received from kioti have the 3 orings, seal and collar, it just looks intimidating to remove the gear cover...but.

Having never done a seal replacement on this engine, I too can only guess. Most engine designs have the seal installed from the front of the cover so it's possible to remove and install a seal without removing the front cover. The drawings above and those in the parts diagrams don't really confirm that in this case. With Kore-engineering, who knows? I agree that removing the front cover looks like a project. Would hope it's not necessary and try to go at it from the outside. As for the wear sleeve, unless that shows a definite problem once it's exposed I would consider passing on replacing it. Removing it with the cover still in place might prove to be more trouble than it's worth, and damaging it in an unsuccessful attempt would not be good. Having to then pull the cover just to replace the sleeve might make you wish you hadn't gone that route.

well managed to get this far, got the pulley off to expose the seal. had a suggestion of screwing 4 screws around the seal and gently prying but it's a very small lip and can't really get a straight angle. Hoping we have a tech on here that can help me with this!

I don't know about Kioti, I have a Kubota L235 (4wd) that I replaced the crankshaft seal on. The same picture of my tractor looks very similar to yours. I had to remove the front axle to get to the seal but I could replace it without removing the gear case cover. And, no, I'm not that much of a mechanic, I hired a mobile diesel mechanic that did most of the work and I was his tool fetcher.
