Got a buddy willing to sell me a 2007 Buhler 7ft, 3 blade mower , little use w/ 3 new spare blades for $1000, I believe thats a decent deal but am wondering if my 09 CK30 HST has the balls to run it? It is a finishing mower.

I think in low range, slow and steady it should be ok, what do you guys think?

Or buy it and trade it on a 5ft'r??

Thanks!

I think you will be fine with a 7 foot finish. I pull a rhino 6 foot with my dk45s and I can slip the belts before it even pulls hard. I looked at a three wing finish for my tractor and was within the hp range for an 11 foot.

You should be fine in "normal" grass cutting conditions.

I had a 7' RFM. They're big!!! Heavy too, so make sure you've got some kind of front ballast (loader or suitcase weights) if you plan on lifting it.

As long as you keep that grass mowed frequently, I don't think you'd have any problems mowing at a reasonable speed.

If your lawn is flat, you'll like that mower. If it's uneven, you may be disappointed. A big mower like that can span depressions and scalp high spots. Mine did...and, yes, my lawn is uneven. It looked a bit raggedy after a fresh mowing (which is one reason I sold it...the other reason was backing it into the garage. I had less then an inch clearance on both sides backing in). I was getting a better cut with a 5' mower and the 6' mower I bought after selling the 7' unit.

$1000 is a good price for a finishing mower...big ones like the unit you're considering aren't as easy to sell as a 5' or 6' mower though.

thanks for the replies, yes the grass that I would be cutting is fairly uneven, more like pasture grass and trurf...now you got me wondering...

Im thinking if I don't like it I could flip it for 1200-1300 which according to my internet searches would still be a great deal for someone...

You might...it'll depend on your area. Around me, most CUTs are smaller (I'm in a semi-rural/agricultural area). You'd need a buyer with enough tractor to run that mower and enough yard to justify it.
I had it because it came with a tractor I bought...sole reason. I happened to have a buddy who was using a 60" mid-mount mower on a pretty good sized area (I don't know the total acreage) and he was quite interested in a bigger mower. I also knew of a 6' mower (used) available for sale. A lucky coincidence...

If you're concerned about a "golf course" lawn...you might not be happy. If you just want to mow your "pasture grass and turf", you might be quite satisfied.

an old ford 8n gasser can run a 6' finish mower.. so a new diesel compact on good land.. :) probably ok..
