It was just days ago I poo-poo'd a post or two about these filters catching manufacturing residue and argued that the 50 hour filter change is ridiculous.

And I thought it was stupid to have 2 filters for the same fluid.

But now I know why there are 2 filters and why they state to change them out at 50 hours then you're safe to go long hours.

One is PAPER and the other is METAL SCREEN. Clearly different intents for filtering the same fluid.

So, I'll have a little tasty crow for dinner tonight and share some oil filter ****.

OH - Remember to have 2.5 Gallons of fluid on hand...or be super quick to swap the passenger side filter!!!

Filters are CHEAP insurance. Getting ready to change my CK27 oils....525 hrs. I use OEM filters.... I know you can use other brands but it really isn't that much cost wise. Interesting on your choice of hyd fluid. I am going to put the Shell Spirax in mine ( 8 gal )....got it at $50 for a 5 gallon bucket, so i got 2 buckets.

There are so many options for Hydraulic and HST fluid...same as most oil. I really only draw the line with Automotive ATF fluid and only run the OEM ATF...no exceptions.

That said, the stuff I bought was 2x more than what you bought and it simply came down to convenience. I was at the dealer for the filters and I did not feel like spending hours at other stores comparing brands and and prices when $50 and one stop ends it all.

And now I'm set for 200 hours or something? Jeebus. That's 4-5 years for me!

My CK27 gets the hyd fluid changed every 400 hrs. I am at 525 now.....so it will be done next week ! I found if you can find a jobber or distributor of fuels and lubricants it is much cheaper. I got mine at a Shell distributor.

That first oil and filter change is the worst. One, for getting the factory filters off and two, there is a bunch of metal machining dust and shards. They must not clean any of the parts before assembly. As far as hydro oil, find a good quality oil and in a 10W-30 weight. Members have mentioned using different brands with good results. Oil debates, whether engine or hydro, can go on forever. Thanks for opening up your filters and showing what is really there.
