Will a CK20HST with loader and backhoe fit on a 6x14 trailer? Looking at the specs, with the loader on the ground you got 54" from the front wheel, the wheelbase is 58" and the Backhoe transport overhang is 43", figure another foot or so from the rear wheel to the backhoe It comes in just under 14'. The trailer I'm looking at is a 6x14 landscape trailer with dual 3500#axles. If I load the tractor with the loader at the gate, the backhoe will hang just about at the front of the trailer. Anyone have any experiences trailering their CK20?

asylum,

Will it fit? close. Would I want to use it? No

I am currently using a 16' (14' flat - 2' dovetail) car/equipment trailer. Loader forward, to get it correctly balanced the bh hangs past the back of the trailer. I only have about a 9" area where I can locate the tractor on the trailer to get it balanced.

I would would not load the bh first, have you noticed that with the bh on the front of the tractor feels light? The BH acts as a really good counter balance and increases the total weight on the rear wheels of the tractor. This will give you excessive tongue weight. This might not be an issue with a 3/4 or 1 ton truck but will be an issue with the average landscape trailer.

I actually started to bow the crossmember where the the rear tires sit when the bh is on. When I replaced the deck I used 1/4" 2x2 tube to reinforce the slightly bowed crossmember. If the trailer is a lighter weight landscape trailer it probably would not hold up.

here http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...8d1112236631-ck20-trailer-616983-p7010047.jpg is a picture of my tractor loaded on my trailer (without BH). When the BH is on the tractor is very close to that same loaded position and the BH boom still extends over the back of the trailer.

Also, make sure that the trailer you are looking at has a wrap around tongue (the part with the decals on in the picture).

Thanks for the input. I was hoping to get away with this trailer

I was a little worried about the gate. I'm also looking to haul my '65 Mustang for a full paint job. Mind you the car will be hauled probably twice and the tractor rarely. I don't like to share my toys, uhh, I mean tools. I wanted the trailer just in case it(tractor) has to go in for service. This is the next option.

Thanks again, Ed

I would get the heavier trailer. I would be worried about the mesh not holding up, the side rails being in the way of hitting the doors on the Mustang, room to correctly position anything on the trailer, and just pure safety. With only four extra feet you add about 700# of weight to the trailer, some is due to the extra lenght but some has to be accounted for in heavier construction.

I use my trailer for more than just hauling the tractor. I did a paver project here at the house last year and hauled 2 pallets of pavers. The only way I was able to do this was to be able to load from the side and rear. (a deckover would have been really nice for this.) I also have used it to haul gravel, dirt, mulch, etc. by addind wood sides (see attachment).

Have a look at my trailering thread. At the end are many pictures of our solution, and lots of good ideas for properly binding the machine down to the trailer.

We ended up with a 16' and the rear gate on ours (Ringo trailer) is split so there is one more sqaure tube making up the gate making it I think better for handling all the weight during load/unload. The one in your pictures has one long piece for the rear gate w/ one less square tube. It will probably be fine... you want to avoid the ones w/ only angle iron.

Best of luck -- the price on the 14' is certainly right @ around $1700 w/ brakes on all wheels and load of about 5000 lbs. I think our guy wanted about $2000 for the 14' Ringo and $2100 for the 16' Ringo... we went with the 16' because of only $100 for 2 more feet of trailer.

Thanks guys,
The trailer salesman also said he wasn't sure if the landscape trailer was the way to go. I did like the rails, but thanks for pointing out the mustang door problem. Gotta take a look at that car hauler. It's 16' and just over $2000. Still a good price. I'd like to see if it has the slots for rails on the sides. I've been doing alot of work around the house and make trips to the dump regularly. I have plenty of uses for the trailer.

I don't own a trailer, so have to pay dealer for service pickups. To my surprise, they sometimes use a trailer too short to put down the BH boom, and just pin it up. They say that that's the Kioti-recommended procedure. Seems to me that bouncing around with even a 12" bucket would put a lot of strain on all the pins, bolts, etc., and perhaps even the hydraulics. What do you folks think?

I hauled a ck30 with loader and backhoe 500 miles on a 14' trailer, put the bucket on the A-frame trailer hitch. No problems.

Got a 16' trailer now, fits much better.

Here is a picture of my CK20HST TLB on a 14' trailer.

I didn't put the bucket up on the front because I needed to make a few sharp corners and the tailgate of the dumptruck wont stay up. Turning the backhoe to the side and putting the lock pins in worked fine, but I would want at least a 16' trailer for everyday use.
