Hi all,

I have just tried out my new Agrotrend 54" rear mounted snowblower...well, at least tried to in the 2" of snow we have had so far. I'm sure I won't have to wait long to really try it.

Does anyone have approximate pricing I can expect for a snowblade for the CK20HST? Either frame mounted or pinned on to the front end loader; bucket mounted would make the tractor too long to fit into my tractor garage.

I understand the frame mounted is a much better option, but how long does it take to remove the front end loader? Is anyone aware of any drawbacks of the frame mounted style, such as not being able to lift as high as the front end loader might?

Thanks,

Jon

One source for a small plow (18 inch in height and five six or seven? feet wide) is the Snow Champ from Aiken?, out of Pennsylvania. Seven feet might work good to plow the width of the tractor with the blade at a sharp angle. I think if you google snow champ you can find the web site for it or search this site. As I recall they have three sizes and the cost is about $1200 plus shipping I think. This plow clamps onto the loader bucket and has a manual angle adjustment. If I had more room in my garage I would probably have one right now. It looks like a neat plow that would work well. Good luck in your search.

Upon reading your post more carefully I see you are looking for a plow that mounts in place of the bucket so disregrd my response as it does not help. Still good luck in your search I also would like a plow to take the place of my bucket.

We supply pin-on and subframe mounted hydraulic plow blades for the CK20 and CK20s, along with other tractors. Send us an e-mail if you are interested in pricing options for either type plow blade.

I have a subframe mounted front blade from MichiganIron on my CK20s and have been very happy with it so far. This is my first winter with the tractor and the blade. It is great to have all of the adjustments available at my fingertips using the loader control. It will not lift as high as the bucket, but I have been able to make some piles higher than I thought with just the blade. I am able to pin the blade (to eliminate the trip springs) to use it in the summer too for dirt/mulch/etc.

If you really needed to move the piles of snow out of the way, you can always swap out the blade for the bucket. The bucket change only takes ~1-2 minutes. The blade change takes a little longer, maybe 5 minutes, but I think it will get faster as I do it a few more times. I am glad I went with this front hydraulically controlled blade rather than the rear blade, at least for plowing snow.

Thanks for your comments thus far.

Novi408, thanks for the testimonial. Do I understand correctly that you can put the bucket on the same mount as the blade, or do you mean you are swapping out of the whole loader assembly in 1-2 minutes?

I have the 54" snowblower on the back for moving larger piles of snow out of the way, so the blade will mostly be used for lighter snow fall.

I've ordered a subframe mounted blade from MichiganIron; I'll let you know how I make out.

I swap out the entire loader (arms and bucket, basically the quick removal part). The loader removal typically takes about a minute, takes a little longer to hook it up. You won't have to remove the frame mounts for the loader. The blade uses a different mounting system than the loader. You will have to remove the loader and then drive over the blade subframe, raise the rear of it to pin on to a bar mounted to the tractor frame, then hook up the hydraulics and use those to push down on the blade to line up a hole for the front pin to go through. The biggest problem I have had is getting the front pin lined up, but it got easier after the second time and just takes a little time to get the holes lined up.

Let me know if you have any questions or if pictures would help when you get your blade. I also added a rubber scraper for protecting my driveway when plowing. I bolted that in between the cutting edge and the blade itself.
