Kioti CK20HST
My dealer is now offering a extended wheel base conversion for CK20HST's. They move the front axle forward and say that it helps. I have attached a pic of a conversion and their web site. Just goto the Kioti tab on the left and click on the CK20 and scroll to the bottom.

I will find out the cost on Monday.

That's cool. Do you know how they are making the saddle or are they just moving the factory saddle forward? How much does it cost for the addition?

Interesting but I'm a bit suspicious of the benefit of extending the wheelbase? Luxo cruising on your CK20??? The Penrose website says " The longer wheel base gives greater stability, less front axle weight and less stress on front end internal parts. Also provides better braking and a smother ride because less weight is transferred to the front axle. The closer the front axle is to the cutting edge, the better the control is." Well, if that is the case then why aren't all tractors built like road graders? Why didn't Kioti do this themselves? What is the downside besides a wider turning radius?

I can understand the benefit of widening the track for stability purposes but don't understand how moving the front axle forward a foot or so would make much difference to stability. I suppose it would cut the need for rear ballast but would not eliminate the need so that is not much benefit. The difference in stress on the front axle would seem to be minimal and I haven't heard of anyone having busted their front axle due to overweight issues anyway.

What I would really like to see is a CK20 kit for extending the track by six or eight inches. That would clearly increase stability on hills.

Island a i agree you with that completely.

All good points from both ends, we'll have to wait for an owner's comments who has bought one of those and done some digging and hill-driving over rough terrain. Xtremesvc, if you happen to hear that one of your neighbors buys a modded tractor and what his experiences are with it...

This idea seems to move the axle 6 to 8 inches forward, I myself see little benifit, the reduced load on the front axle will be arounf 10%, we are talking a hundred pounds or so, it will not eliminate the need for rear weights when using the loader, stability will improve but marginally, inagine going down a hill at 45 degrees, longer wheel base will help a little but consider rough terain, longer wheelbase makes it more likely to hit rocks, widening the width or track will help more as stated previously but this will increase the stress on the front end steering and I believe the front axle floats so any widening will not take effect until the axle has bottomed anyway, easiest is use spacers on the rear wheels, one could make a spacer 2 or 3 inches thick from steel, it will add weight to rears and widen the track, cheap and fast, just my thaughts

yes, that is exactly what I was referring to. I'm surprised that there is no kit to do this for the CKs. I believe Kubota makes spacers for at least some of their tractors with the stated purpose being to allow chains to be put on for snow plowing. Bottom line is that widening the track will increase roll over stability at a slight risk of overloading the axles.

I looked at the other orange before I bought my CK 20HST. The similar size bota had a way to extend the rear wheels out by about 3 inches. The hub slid outward 1.5 inches on each side. My owners manual on the CK20 talks about adjust the track but I have not figured out how it does. The manual says take it to the dealer. I'm going to ask him the next time I'm there....
