hi echo
r u totally sold on the ck20 have u looked at the tym t230 which is currently coming into the market. if u check the lift cap on the tym Humpolec loader is almost double that of the ck20. i am looking at becoming a dealer between kioti & tym. i will make my final chose next week when i look at the new k2 tractors by tym. they r the t230 & the t270. what i like about the tym (Pronounced TIM) for another $500.00 u can get it in the color u like and the humpolec loader. i currently have a tym in my rental fleet for the past year, everybody that rents it loves it. the down side tym to kioti is name awareness and a more complete line. tym has built tractors for mahindra for years and scorpion but scorpion did a poor job with this tractor, so tym is going to start in jan 2006 to sell them and set up dealers.

This is the first I've heard of Tym tractors. A quick Google search shows they are Korean built with mostly Kubota engines. How bad could they be? There seem to be lots of nice things said about the tractors in another forum (not TBN). However, I have a very hard time imagining that the "humpolec" FEL has twice the capacity of the KL120. That would mean lift capacity at pivot pins of over 2000lbs and breakout capacity of greater than 3000lbs. That is well into the range of FELs on 45-50 hp tractors . I don't think so. If those numbers are real then Tym will own the tractor market in a couple of years.(I checked the specs on the Kubota MX5000 which are almost exactly double those of the CK20/KL120)

Even if the FEL capacity is the same or slightly less than the KL120 on the CK20, the Tym still looks like a nice tractor. That leaves the dealer support issue as the major concern when thinking about buying from a new importer. Of course the same thing was said about Kioti five years ago so I guess it boils down to "you pay your money and take your chances".

I've never seen the T230 but have tested the CK20. The CK20 is a nice little tractor. The T230 seems to offer some additional benifits over the CK20 in that it has more horsepower and a standard rear remote, and you claim it has a $500 lower price tag too. The weight of the T230 is neither too heavy nor too light so it looks to be a good all around machine. The T270 looks even better to me, it is a 27hp tractor in the same basic size as the CK20, so it could easily power larger PTO powered equipment without the problem of bogging down.

I looked for, but never found the loader lift specs on the T230/T270's loader. But I can see no way that the loader could lift twice the capacity of the CK20's loader. The CK20 uses one of the higher capcity loaders on the market, not quite as high as some others but certainly among the highest. If the loader on the T230/T270 could lift twice what the CK20's loader can lift, then it would have the capacity to lift more than the weight of the entier tractor, even if you added a ballast box onto the back of the tractor. Somehow I doubt that could be true.

TYM has been around for a while, they use Mistubishi engines in their smaller tractors and Kubota engines in their larger machines. No question in my mind that a Kubota engine is a very positive selling point for the brand. Lack of dealers and low name recognition are low points. A 5 year warrenty is an excellent selling point.

Yeah I actually posted something in the Century/Zetor/Branson forum saying that apparently Century will be the official distributer for the TYM tractors starting next year. I am sure they will be able to offer better product support and build a stronger dealer network then Scorpion was able to do. Makes you wonder how much longer Mahindra will source there tractors from them though...Mahindras only two Cab tractors are sourced from TYM...

Hi,

Actually there was a thread about TYM under " other brands"
which had some interesting information including some input from a " former " dealer in TYM's.

Imagine he could provide more input on TYM in a PM.

Have a great day.

Tom
