I'm on the hunt for a tractor with a loader. I stopped at our local Kioti Dealer today and found what appears to be a great deal. Dealer does not have it yet... its getting traded in for a larger unit.
2003 CK20 FEL mint condition and only 32 hours... asking price is $8995.00 in central NH. Does this sound right?

I've read here about some trouble with the loaders, but I'm confused to what Kioti has done about it. Was there a recall? The Dealer said that this loader is wider then the new 2007 CK20 Tractors... but he said that is the only difference. Can I expect Kioti to take care of this if it should crack?

Thank you for the help

That sounds like a great deal to me. New England seems to have higher pricing since farming is such a small business up here.

As far as the loader, there were problems with some loaders cracking at the holes where the bolts mount the inspection plate for the lines in the cross brace. I have some very small fractures and Kioti reassured everyone they are cosmetic only and have not caused any failures yet. They sent out a reinforcing plate/cover that strenghens that part of the loader to all the dealers to install for free. I still use mine everyday and it has not shown any wear or loss of usability and I use it to it's max.

The catch is you are responsible for getting the tractor to the dealer.
Luckily, my great dealer (Batchelder Sales in Lebanon, Maine) offered to come to my house and install it the next time they are in the area. If you are looking for a used Kioti, give them a call. They also have a brother store in Ossipee, NH.

Have fun Tractor shopping!

1) There was no recall but these KL120 loaders are prone to a cracking problem around an inspection port and a repair/strengthening kit has been made available for free from Kioti. If this is a Kioti dealer he should have already installed the kit but ask to make sure. Once that kit is installed it is very unlikely you'll have any further cracking and there have been no reports of failures even before the kit was issued.

2) The dealer is wrong about the only change between a 2003 and 2007 CK20 being a different sized bucket. The 2007 model has a KL120B model loader which has a slightly different design that essentially eliminates the cracking problem. The bucket is now a bit smaller (?48" rather than 54"). There is one other big change and that is that the 2007 has a suspension seat (NICE!!) while the pre 2006 versions have a simple mower style seat.

3) 2003 tractors are out of warranty. 2007 tractors have a 4 year warranty.

You don't mention HST so I presume this is a gear model. If the tractor is in good shape then that is still a very good price. I got a 2004/5 CK20 HST for $10,000 with 28hrs a couple of years ago and that was a very good deal at the time. However, you should consider that Kioti has a special on the new 2007 CK20 gear with new style loader and suspension seat for just under $12,000. They also have a $900 rebate on CK tractors right now until 7/31 which might also apply (or you could choose zero percent financing for 36 months in lieu of the cash rebate).

$11,100 (after rebate) for a 2007 with warranty and suspension seat ($600 value) versus $9000 for a 2003 with no warranty and mower seat. Kinda close call in terms of value. Resale will always be better on the 2007. If I could swing the extra cash I'd probably opt for new myself (just to get the suspension seat ;)) but the 2003 is still a good deal.

Hi Reany,
The tractor is here... I will be running it through the shop and doing the loader upgrade this week.
It is a great price for the tractor as it also has a sunshade on it.
I have 2 of these trade-ins available. A gear with 32 hours and 54" bucket and an equally nice HST with 54" bucket and 195hours.
Hope to see you soon.

The "standard" size bucket on the new KL120 is 50" BUT if you are interested in the RARE 54" ...... I have one for sale!

i've had my ck20hst for over 3 years now..... no problems at all.... i have used my loader quite a bit with no signs of cracking, but Dave at Upper Valley has it on his list for the loader repair any way... Dave is a great guy and stands behind his products....
as far as i'm concerned if guys are trying to pry boulders out of the ground with one edge of the bucket, or taking very uneven heavy loads, something is bound to give.... if you use it correctly it will hold up just fine....
