Hi all-

There's been good activity on joystick getting loose and repairing it.
Mine may be starting to get loose -- seems like the joystick has a little more play than normal probably from shaking snow loose from the bucket.

Do you guys know if there is any way to tell if my CK20HST built before 2006 already has the metal upgrade "cenimatic" kit? If I have a way of knowing I don't have the metal ball set, I can order the kit before I even take it apart so I can upgrade.

i.e. is there a particular serial number / year built where they started including the upgraded cenimatic metal setup standard?

I replaced the one on mine that i bought in 2004 with the new kit about 2 years ago. It was all metal and did not have the plastic around the balls like what came out of it

I'm pretty sure my machine was manufactured in 2003 even though I bought it new in 2006 and it is thus considered a 2006 model year. Wallace was able to tell me the date of manufacture based on the serial number.

So I'm now 99% confident I've got the original cenimatic setup with plastic.
Since the kit seems to be reasonably priced, when it gets warm out again I'll get a kit and then take it apart to upgrade and also tighten the joystick. This will be a good way to introduce myself to Orchard Hill farm equipment of Hadley, MA who will be my 3rd dealer since my first two don't exist anymore! I'll order a kit and look into a meteor or other snow blower for next year's season -- they carry quite a few well known brands for implements etc.

Thanks for the info.

I am not sure I follow you on the year of your tractor. Tractors are not like cars as far as model years but they do have a date of mfg. If your serial number tells you it was mfg in 2003 than it is a 03 not an 06. Does not matter when you purchased it. If you were to get parts there may be serial number breaks for identifying the proper part for your tractor. This in turn correlates to the date of mfg. I can purchase a new 2009 car in 2011 it is still a 2009.

I agree with you on parts being tied to serial number ranges.

But both my dealer and if I remember correctly Wallace when he looked things up for me mentioned it's treated as model year when the machine hits dealer's lot and sells. It was financed as a 2006 and identified as a 2006 on everything in accordance with policies yet the machine and loader etc. were manufactured 2 or 3 years earlier. This is what I've been told and I'm just relaying that from trusted sources like my original dealer and Rick Wallace. YMMV.

I will check on the part number of the kit I just installed on my 2007. I purchased my from East Texas tractor 30 some dollars. I had the plastic balls which completely failed on me, order the new kit now and replace, it sucks watching your tractor sit.

I just put a new kit on my DK40SE HST about a year or so ago. I would assume they are all the same kit and same unit... very stout replacement - highly recommend it. Mr. Wallace can certainly help you out with that number I have no doubt. The plastic isn't very durable.

Hopefully getting your control body out of the frame is easier than the DK40!

From what Wallace had mentioned a good while back, the tractor serial number starts with a letter. An "A" would be a 2001, "B" 2002. He never mentioned what came before 2001 and I assumed that the letters would just keep going up unless Kioti changed their system.

I changed my kit last Summer and what a difference. Just be sure to grease them well during install. One of the members had posted a picture where he installed grease fittings into the unit for regular maintenance. I wouldn't say that they are unreliable. I replaced the original on my 2003 ck20hst at about 75 hrs with a plastic kit, I've got over 800 hrs now and still got same parts in.

Just as a clarification, the KIOTI serial numbers starting with a letter started with 2004 (D). Before then, the fist number of the serial number is the manufacturing year.
