So I was bush hogging along on my CK35 when I hit a stick about 3 feet long and an inch in diameter. Wouldn't you know it, the stick popped up and went on the right side of the tractor, over the front axle and under the radiator just perfectly enough that it popped the lower radiator hose off the radiator. Of course I got a cloud of steam, the tractor shut down, and I got off and assessed my situation.

The radiator hose was fine it just needed to be put back on. Put a screwdriver on my tool list, walked about a half mile (up hill most of the way) and back to the house. I jumped in the truck, ran to town and got premix antifreeze, grabbed a big phillips screwdriver, and jumped in the UTV to go fix it. When I got back to the tractor it was easy enough to put the hose back on and cool enough to open the radiator & refill both radiator and reservoir. All's well right!? I jump on the tractor and it turns over just fine but won't fire.

So I get to messing with it and see these 2 wires running right behind the radiator hose to a sensor of some sort, give 'em a tug and 1 of the two has been broken off up in the connector. So I get the connector off, pull it apart and find out I don't have what I need to fix it, and I've got to leave the farm to come back home to GA.

So now the tractor is sitting out in the field 4 hours away from me. I am hoping that this broken wire is the reason it won't fire and I'll just have to fix this connection and it'll fire right up next time I am there. Here are 3 pictures of what I'm dealing with...

First one showing the replaced radiator hose and the broken connection I found...

Second one shows a close up of the connector....

And in the last one I am pointing where the connector clips in. (There is a rubber vent tube that goes over that white circle above my finger that I've removed for clarity)

So...

1. Would that broken wire be why the engine won't fire?

2. What is that sensor contraption that this plugs onto?

3. Can I just get a replacement crimp on brass female pin that clips up into the connector? Also what size is it and where do I get such a thing?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

OK, so I've browsed around on the Michigan Iron web site, looked at the parts diagrams, and found out the thing this plug plugs into is the Engine Stop Solenoid. So, maybe that would cause the engine to stop. ;)

Problem is, they don't have a blow-up or part number for this plug. I am going to call them and find out if they can get me the proper plug.

Yup, that is the fuel solenoid connector. No fuel no run.

just remove the broken connector and replace it.

Tin both the bare wire (remove the vestiges of the connector) and tin what is left of the pin in the back of the plug, and sweat solder the two back together. replace plug back onto the stop solenoid, and fire up the tractor.

OK, appreciate y'all's responses. Firstly, when I pulled the connector apart to see if I could solder it back together as K0UA suggests, the tiny little female spade piece fell down into the high grass never to be seen again.

So, just replace the broken connector as Rebeldad1 suggests, right? Call to Kioti dealer and you can't just get the connector, must buy the entire wiring harness to the tune of $275. Really?! Are you kidding me?!

So, I do a google search for "Kioti Engine Stop Solenoid Connector" and what pops up as the first picture But ...

I am 99.9% sure this is the exact connector I need. A "Kubota fuel shut off solenoid connector plug" $8.89 with free shipping on eBay. So it's on order and I will post if it does the trick.

Also asked the Kioti dealer if they had or knew of a source for replacing just the plug rather than buying the whole wiring harness and they said no, they don't, if you find something let us know. If this works, I'll let them know.

Don't you just hate it when taking something apart, a piece goes "bye-bye" never to be seen again?

I have lost stuff in the carpet, let alone the grass. Hope that connector pigtail gets you going again.

Yes I do, I hate working on most anything out in the field for this very reason... well that and the blazing sun. This little thing was about the size of a medium sized ant, didn't even bother looking for it because I've lost hitch pins in the tall grass that are 1000 times bigger than this. :cautious:

Instead of the crimp type splices, I would do soldered joints with shrink wrap once you get it back to the barn. It might keep you from having an intermittent problem later on.
