I was mowing near house when motor suddenly dies. Oil pressure light and battery light on dash comes on. Motor started right away, battery seems very strong, but motor stopped a couple times on way to shed. It would be an exaggeration to say I know anything about electrics but trying to read up on this, there is some info about "oil pressure switch" gone bad. The way this is acting, does it sound like a bad OPS and might it be worth going ahead and replacing it? If so, is it a simple unscrew old and replace? Or more complicated?

Oil level is full.

Is the oil light coming on because it is faulty or is it coming on along with the battery light because the engine died. Fuel shutoff solenoid could also be a potential issue with it dying which because the engine died would cause the other lights to come on.

T & B: fuel level is low but I'ts been run on less. I was getting ready to stop mowing and add fuel but it was getting dark so I'll fill it today and see if that makes a diff.

Cap is just a one clik type, no vents that I've seen.

Randy, thanks...you've given me another possibility to look into.

Will post any results I have later on today or tomorrow.

Those lights always come on when the engine stalls….just like when your car engine if it stops running, for some other reason other then turning the key off.
If you’ve run it out of fuel, you probably have to bleed it. So NEVER EVER run it out!!!
Has the fuel filter ever been changed? Read your manual before doing this, or you will get air in the system, and have to bleed it. Keep us posted 🤞

I'm embarrassed all to heck! It was just too low on fuel! Filled it up this morn, it cranked like normal and I finished my mowing. The gauge was not down to the red mark, and I've run it low in the past a bunch of times, not wanting to stop what I was doing at the time. Learned a lesson this time tho!

As to the filter, It was changed last year but I took it apart just to check and clean the bowl. And of course I lost the spring in bottom but had some similar ones in the junk bin that works just fine.

To all of you, thanks a lot for the feedback. Really appreciate it.
