CK 30 HST tiller size

Hello

I am beginning to get a chance to get the ck30 dirty. I can't find enough reasons to stay in the seat.

We are putting in a garden and need to break-up the plot. The ground has not been worked for awhile. Soil is clay.

A friend has a 6 foot tiller we can use.
Question:
Can the ck30 handle this size?

Well,probably but I use a 5 ft on my ck30 gear,kingkutter,it covers both tracks[barely],but it does.

I would think if the dirt was loose old garden,no big rocks etc,6 ft would be ok,but also would think 5 ft would be better,safer,easier on your tractor.

Yes, it will handle it. You are fortunate to have an HST tractor which means that you can go as slow as you need to in order to let the tiller do the work.

Prepare by setting the tranny in low gear and have a drink. Tilling can be boring after several hours but the results are nothing short of a miracle.

Don't break the tiller, new prices are nearly 2000$ for economy models.

I've used a little 4 footer and a 5' landpride tiller on my CK30 in virgin ground and the machine performed with very much power to spare. I did break a few tines though and the rental place told me that this was normal.

My gear tractor does a real good job as well at tilling,low range 1st gear,not to fast at all.

Never broke a tine on my kk tiller in about 6 years use.

Make sure your slip clutch on that tiller is adjusted right and will slip when it needs to,or you might tear up your tractor.

I just got a KKII 6 footer for my DK40. I ran it with no trouble at 2000rpm engine speed at max depth even in muddy soil. Stalled the tiller a couple of times (slip clutch) on roots and rocks but there was no power issue. If I were looking for a CK30 I think I'd get the 6 footer. It might be at the limit but it is nice to easily cover the tracks and you can always go a little slower or not quite as deep on each pass.

Like said,if your in right dirt,and you got slip clutch set right,6 ft should work.

But was curious and looked at owners manual,its says59 inches and below.

So if you were going to buy one would say get a 5 ft one,it will cover your tracks,[it does mine with indstrial tires],plus,1 foot don't really add up to getting done much faster,instead of taking one hour,you might shorten it to 58 min.

CK30 HST only has 22 pto hp.

On my lk3054 xs I am using my ccm 160 (58") tiller with no issues. I have used it behind the MF1428 (28hp) and the Ford 1710 (26hp) with no problems.

The plus is CCM is a great company to do business with.

Thanks for all the replies.

The soil is clay and has not been worked for 10 years or so. So maybe I should hold off on borrowing the 6 foot tiller and check to see what I can rent a 5 footer.

I don't want to break anything yet, as the tractor only had 6 hours on it.

I am hoping to buy a tiller for next year.
Need to save up for a snow blower for the coming snow.

We have alot of clay here.
If you put a 6ft on a 30 around here it's just to haul it from place to place LOL
