Hi folks - I am now a Kioti owner! I was so used to posting in the buying section, I posted there by mistake. I beg your forgiveness!

---------
Big day last Wednesday... I picked up my new CK20 (gear) with a loader and brought her home! She joins my Honda 5013 in the garage. I'm weighing the options of selling the 5013, which is completely capable of doing my lawn and snow clearing duties, and picking up a blade, blower, and mower for the CK20. My gut tells me I'll probably lose $$ but gain space.

Anyway, my first issue I thought someone could help with is how to adjust that suspension seat. It was a selling point for me because it was much more comfortable than any of the competition. However, I had it out on the trails yesterday, and when I drove over roots or a rock, the seat would bottom out and really jar the old spine... probably worse than no suspension at all. I dialed the three lobed wheel under the seat all the way up, but that did little. I couldn't find instructions in the manual. I weigh 195 lbs so I don't think I should be overloading the suspension.

sschriber,

My memory may be faulty but when I checked out the CK20 (and almost bought one) I remember asking about the seat tension. As I recall he said it only adjusted fore and aft, no up or down tension. I fiddled with the nob like you did and it made no difference. Now again I could be wrong and hope I am.

That's a fine tractor and I'd hate to dissapoint you sooo take this with a grain of salt and consult your dealer. Mabye others can prove me wrong here as well. That might ( i said might) explain why it's not mentioned in the manual . I sure hope not.

I'm pulling for ya man:)

There is a lever that sticks out on the left hand side of the seat (sitting on the seat) that shows a picture of a little guy and a big guy. You can twist the handle to ratchet towards the big guy or the little guy. This increases the spring pressure. For a stiffer seat, in your case, crank the handle towards the big guy. I wish I could explain it better. :D

I think the knob you guys are talking about is the rear 3pt hitch raise/lower speed...

EDIT: I ran out and snapped some pictures for you. I can't believe the flash worked so well in the pitch black.

In this picture is the lever and the two guys. You can see the black arrow that points to the guys as you adjust it. I have it cranked up so I can see over the front of the tractors hood. I am only 5'-6" and 200 lbs. I could jump up and down on the seat and it still wouldn't move, it's so stiff. I like it.

Here, you can see the + sign on the lever. If I were to crank the handle, it would increase the spring pressure. If you pull out on the lever and turn it 180 degrees, there is a - sign and it locks into place, now it will ratchet to the left and loosen the pressure.

The red knob you see in the picture in the center of the seat adjust the height of the seat. You pull it out and slide it left or right to raise or lower the seat height.

Dmace ROCKS,

Unfortunately the dealer I went to apparently doesn't. Now to be fair there was a seat design change with the CK20. Could I have ran across an older design?

Some wisdom please.

I'm so happy I was wrong:) That's a rare thing :D kidding

Thanks!

One dealer I went to still had the older design which was not a suspension seat at all, but it did flip forward which the suspension seat does not.

As a point of information, for those who have the old style CK20 non suspension seat, I have found that putting a block of very stiff foam about three inches deep under the seat does wonders at preventing tailbone jarring bottoming out episodes. The new suspension seat is definitely an improvement and I would upgrade were it not for the rediculous $600 part price.

THE NEW CK20 SUSPENSION SEAT HAS 2 VERTICAL ADJUSTMENTS
The lower three cornered knob is the vertical height adjustment.
Above that is a handle that can fold and allow you to turn a screw that sets the tension on the seat suspension.
The CK20 owners manual doesnot show the NEW seat.

Hi Steve,
The long grey handle in front middle below the lip of the seat will tighten the spring tension under the seat. Turn it clockwise until you are happy with the suspension.
If you look closely there is a picture of a big and small person and an arrow of sorts for direction.
The lower knob is for height adjustment.
Hope this helps.
