:confused3:Me and the wife's church have a agreement where they leave me alone but when they need help I will help them out. During the summer I will build them something for their summer vacation bible study for the kids and in the winter I will build them a Christmas Float for the Parades. A few days ago the church dropped off a trailer that is 8 x 16 so I can build them a float once they come up with a idea for the parade and singing carols.
When the man that dropped off the trailer he said he had problems with the taillights and I said I will take a look at them. Before he left and I am glancing at the cables he said he had a small squirrel problem and I wanted to say something that would have offended him. Now before some of you super regulars tell me to do a search I did but nothing I could find on this so that was a no-go. I bought a new pig tail to replace the one that was all chewed up but that still did not fix the problem.
I got the right side working just fine and it did all the signals but when I went to trace the left side I found he had what looked like a speaker cord used for a jumper wire with the ends cutoff that went to the left side After all that time doing research on what color wires did what and I got it to work almost all the way. Everything almost works but when you step on the brake lights the left side goes dark. 3 wires come out of the left light Brown taillight ,White ground and Yellow for left turn. For me this tells me there is a short to ground problem and this being my first trailer it tells me the light housing or a bulb or a bare wire is causing this problem
Any ideas because I am almost to the point of buying a new wiring harness and taillights just to be left alone from her church and I only have 3 days left to get the trailer ready. Everything works but step on the brake and the left side taillight goes out. SHHHHH PS I did tell my wife that I needed a Milwaukee 15 amp 7 1/4 saw to cut out wood to build seats on the float. I don't work for free but she always tells me that I am on a guilt trip from what I always put my Army Chaplin's through.
