we recently bought a new chuck wagon ..the first time we checked the oil it came running out and looked like mud...so my husband changed the oil and within a few days checked it again and it was already starting to look "muddy" or milky, it is thin and smells like gas.....we called the dealer, they said all it could be is the carburetor, there are no adjustments on the carb...so they put a new carburetor on it and it still is doing it....any ideas on what this could be or anyone with a chuck wagon ever have this problem? other than that we love the machine, but we would really like to resolve this problem...any ideas would be greatly appreciated

milky say's it's a cream color right or are you saying it was as thin as milk?? because if it was milky thats water in the oil not gas. anytime you drain oil it will have a gas smell .so did the oil come out black but as thin as milk or did it come out a milky color. thin oil heavily diluted with a srong gas smell is the carbs or valves. milky color thats head gasket most probably. or is it air cooled???

milky color and thin and strong smell of gas....we changed the oil Sunday and today when I checked it, it ran out and looked like the color of melted butter, not like new oil should after a day...the oil has never looked black...at the first oil change after we had it a month, is when they recommend the first change, it looked like light mud brown....I don't think it is air cooled, not sure

SORRY YOUR HAVING TROUBLE WITH YOUR VEHICLE ....
BEST BRING IT BACK TO YOUR DEALER, THERE IS SOMETHING MAJOR GOING WRONG WITH THAT MACHINE. AND THAT ENGINE FOR SURE IS NOT GOING TO LAST LONG AT ALL LIKE THAT ~~~
WOULDN'T RUN IT AGAIN TILL IT'S FIXED RIGHT !!!!!!
TELL THEM TO FIX IT, AND RUN IT AT THE DEALER FOR AWHILE UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT IT DOESN'T " MILK " BACK UP AGAIN ......
HOPE SOME DAMAGE HASN'T ALREADY BEEN DONE TO WEAKEN THE ENGINE ITSELF ......

THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM ~~~~~~

i had a briggs engine that flodded the crankcase with gas becuase the valves was stuck and the float too. but it just diluted the oil it didin't turn it milky or buttery. what type of oil are you useing? that color thing has me puzzled.

it is a Honda engine so we are using honda oil....added an inline fuel filter....made sure the gas cap is venting..checked the float...trying lots of things but still puzzled too....

Definately sounds like water in the crankcase. That is the only thing that would cause a milky buttery look to the oil.

Were is the engine breather located? Do you drive the unit through any running or standing water? How are you washing it? Water has to be getting in the crankcase somehow.
