Well , Another year has come and gone . It has been a year of unrest and trying times for sure ,through out this old World of our's .
Last year , at this time, was the hardest time of my life . My son was in Iraq and Christmas, last year ,was a pretty tough time for the family . He is home this year for Christmas and then his unit is returning to Iraq in Febuary . Nathan is a Sargeant and career man with the 101st Airboune . He won't be going back to Iraq this time . He has been reassigned .
His duty to his men ,who he trained ,is admirable . His biggest "concern" is not going to Iraq on this tour to bring his men home safely , to ther families .
He told me last year, when he was able to phone home from Iraq, that he would bring "his squad" home and they ,in return , would bring him home safely to their families . He did just that .
Man o Man !!! How was I ever fortunate enough to have a son that is is also my hero !
I guess I am sharing this because there are many who won't be home this year . No matter how you feel about the War it is a time of year for sharing and caring .
If you know someone who won't be home this year ,take the time to call and just let the family know how much you respect and thank them for the sacrifice they made for the freedoms we enjoy everyday . It won't bring their "loved one" home for Christmas ,but it sure helps to know that someone else cares enough to call . I know it would have made a big difference to me ,last year at Christmas time .
I don't mean to offend anyone by this message and if I have , I am truely sorry . I know we all have different opinions of this War and I will respect your right to disagree on it's merits .That's what made this a great nation . From my family to your's "" MERRY CHRISTMAS""
