Tractor
massey 1660
I've been looking at Kubota, John Deere, and Massey Ferguson tractors. I want at least 45 hp pto for mowing and bailing hay. I can't find any reviews for the Massey 1660. Any help would be appreciated.

I couldn't find any reviews either.

You best bet is to visit your MF dealer, test drive the tractor (thereby showing actual interest in a purchase) and then ask the sales person for the names/phone numbers of his 1660 customers. You may get lucky and get a cooperative salesman.

Reviews are OK, but nothing beats getting seat time.

If you're worried about parts and service, eyeball the dealer's setup--how many service guys, how many bays in the service area, size of the parts crib--does the dealer stock a full line of parts for your tractor? He's the guy you will have to rely on when your tractor needs parts/service, not some reviewer.

Thanks for the comments. I've driven a Kubota and the Massey and both seem great compared to my old tractors. Now it's down to price, realibility, and service if need.

I would also consider a Deere 5065E or 5065M with cab for your needs. While upgrading your tractor now is a good time to consider a cab. I used to hesitate at the idea of cabs but have found that they increase the time I can work in inclement weather and their downright comfortable too.:D

I'm currently using a Taarup 206 ( 6 disc mower) and a New Holland 273 baler. I looked at the Kubota 6040 but it didn't have low enough travel speed for baling. A hst goes slow enough but I was thinking of staying with a gear machine.
