I am thinking about replacing the 27 year old 60" JD mid-mount mower on my 755 with a rear mount finish mower. The two dealers closest to me offer two choices, one is no longer a Land Pride dealer and offers a Kodiak 5' finish mower for around $1800. At the other, a Land Pride FDR1660 5' mower goes for $2290 as to the two in stock now, new orders will be at $2511. Aside from price, is there a clear choice as between these two?
I am getting older along with my tractor, and mounting and dismounting the mid-mount is increasingly a pain in the rear, plus the maintenance (including fighting the rust, no indoor storage) is getting to be a bit much, a fight which I am slowly losing.

Boy, you have a lot of choices but do stick with a 60" RFM...best fit for your 755.

Two brands I recommend: BEFCO (had a 60" unit for about 10 years...other then one belt, blade sharpening and greasing, no other work required). The other brand is Woods...a considerably heavier RFM and just as tough.
IMHO, I'd lean toward the BEFCO due to it's lighter weight...still cuts great though!

Your choice really depends on cost...

I don't agree with that statement. I have three 72" mowers. A Lawn Genie, a Farm King and a F-955. The F-955 will out mow the Farm King any day even after the Farm King has been modified to a rear discharge. That's with the Farm King being powered by 35 engine horsepower and the F-955 has 22. The F-955 will mow 4" of fresh lush grass at 12 mph. It's not perfect but it will do it. Don't even think about cutting a that speed with the Farm King so choose your mower carefully as the price difference could be more than made up for in fuel costs over the years. My F-955 uses a lot less fuel than my 4410 doing the same job. Rant over! :)

Take a good look at Carnoi mowers if they are available in your area, they are simply well designed, high quality mowers. Fit finish and attention to detail are everywhere. Look one over before you buy something else. HS.
