Yep, Doug, I understand. Of course, there is some slight vacuum at the large hopper entrance, but not a lot because of the large size of the opening. That hopper is hinged, so originally (when the whole machine was lower to the ground), you could lower the back of the hopper right onto the ground and just rake leaves into it. I'd just have to fabricate something to attach the hose to that would also plug the excess size of the opening. I don't think you've ever have to worry about anything other than the hose itself getting clogged.
