Hey you guys, I found this listing on ebay (local to me). It's a used 5hp electric chipper/shredder. I'm thinking this might be a good candidate to PT'ize by replacing the electric motor with a hydraulic motor. What do you think? (MossRoad?)

Has anyone ever heard of this Flowtron brand? I've searched the 'Net for the mfg's web-site, but no hits...

I'm looking for something with a little more capacity. I've never heard of that brand, but would have to see it to see how the motor hooks up the the chipper unit.

I haven't heard of this brand either, but this one might work well for me since I'm mostly interested in leaves. I may try to snag this one tonight, given it's local and doesn't have to be shipped...

Then you have to figure out how fast the original motor turned, then see if you can get a hydraulic motor to match those RPMs to the flow of your PT. Then figure out how to link the hydraulic motor to the chipper and you've got it /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

But it sounds so simple in concept.../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The good news is: I can run it as an electric until I'm ready/need to convert it to hydraulic.

It is simple in concept. But oh so complicated in reality.

Let us know how well the electric unit works.
