Chinese gasoline engines

Anyone have any experence with the small (5-10 hp) chinese gasoline engines from H.F. ? Are they any good for lawnmower / tiller ? compaired to a B & S gasoline engine ??

I only have experience with the Jiangdong engine I had (until recently). Interesting device. Seemed to be a nearly identical replica of a Honda. I assume, though, that a Honda's plastic parts wouldn't crack after a few months and the oil would stay in the crankcase. I tried making 3 gaskets, and still it leaked. I was not able to re-mill the surfaces, but took a flat file to the mating parts. Everything seemed true, but I never could get the leak stopped. The timing was very sloppy. The recoil mechanism left a bit to be desired. I no longer own it. nuff said?

I'am not sure of the name on their engines. I was asking because, I'am in the market for an engine for my tiller & didn't want to waste my money . The prices are good on these chinese engines. I guess prices too good for the engine to be worth anything. Guess I'll stay away & just buy a b7s or honda

Gee that is a FEATURE The self changing oil, think of all the time it would have saved you Ah yes reminds me of the British motorcycles around the late 60's....

I jut put the 6.5hp engine on a tiller that was given to me. Starts very easily and tiller runs fine. Runs and sounds just like the honda on a water pump I have. Got it for 129.00. Not used it much though.
