Looks like a diamond in the rough to me.

Check fuel bowl vent, needle and seat and float closely. Also check the fuel supply line all the way back to the tank and the fuel pick up in the tank.

I had cub 149 & 1450 and front tire wheel bearing wore out mostly do from snow blower use..soooo you may want to check or purchase heavier duty bearing if blower use.

got the carb rebuilt and put back on today and she started within five seconds. i put the snowblower on it and it only lifts up like a 1/2 inch is this normal or is there something i am missing.

The hood hinge is supposed to be a piano type hinge. I have to replace the one on my IH129 every couple of years. Watch for the HST lever when you go to operate it. Put the palm of your hand on the dash or you will get into a forward /reverse carnival ride. I have watched the wife and my son do this when they tried to operate mine. Most parts are still available for these through a Cub Cadet dealer. PM me a e-mail address and I can send you some helpful info on that machine.

What year is that? I had a new one that looked like your's in 76.
I beat it up for about 12 years went though 2 clutches and a motor.Other than that it was a tough machine.

I think its around a 1972 =or - if I remember right. I have had my 129 for 12 years or so. I got it the 12 HP Kohler had engine problems. I found a crate NOS 16HP Kohler engine for a cub cadet. It has been a tank and still runs good but is ready for a refurb. Not the engine just cosmetic. They are not throw aways.
