cheap backup camera?

last couple days been a bit much. unhooking / rehooking trailer. about to order a set of $10 magnetic telescopic tennis ball things. to toss on truck and one on trailer for lining up. but thought maybe spend a few more bucks on a backup camera kit that includes a monitor.

any suggestions?

pushing me over the edge, beyond normal.
--when trailer came off ball as i was backing up a hill, and trailer slid up under rear end of truck. (tow chains holding it) i guess, when i hooked up, it sat on top of the latch, vs going all the way down.
--backing up going forward about 5 times each time. due to off just enough. each time jumping out and checking.
--license plate has a slight dent in the middle of it.
--watching another person backup truck (without trailer on) and running right into a culvert. would of made it, but tearing up rear tire if not stop them.

Here's the link. Almost 500 replies and quite a few have bought and installed these cameras and monitors including me. I've installed one on my tractor and 3 others on pickups (1 mine and 2 on friends trucks). Mine are still working fine.

Look at tadi brothers. They have numerous options to choose from. I got one of theirs for my dad, mainly for trailer hook ups. It may not be movie quality but it's more than sufficient to back up to a trailer.

Just my preference but I prefer hard wired for things like this. No batteries, no wireless issues, put it in reverse and it comes on every time.

have yet to decide. price is right. simple enough, looks to have nightvision abilty.

i have a old outdoor nightvision camera for a security setup. rather bulky from what i see on amazon, and if sun just right, lens will fog up some. the camera is on a ball swivel. not sure if the mount will hold camera correctly in given position after so many bumps are hit. not sure on actual angle it captures either.

I don't know what kind of truck you have and/or how old, but I just bought a 2016 Chevy 3500 cab/chassis flatbed. The dealer was able to add a backup camera that will display on the existing 7" screen. Apparently the wiring is already there, they just add the hardware and reflash the computer.

The big cost would be the new radio unit that has a screen, if yours is not equipped with one already. To just add a camera to my existing head unit was $150, which included installation.

It is well worth the cost. I love mine!

ended up going with the magnetic telescoping tennis balls for now. told mom to see if found something, and she ended up finding something at a garage sale. will use them for now. though need to get trailer brakes and tires back on before i have a chance to test them.

running wires and mounting not an issue for me. just finding camera. and correct safety fuse, and if need be power adapter for camera if not able to run directly off 12v battery of vehicle, and then power for the monitor.

rarely ever use radio. more likely any sort of "flip" radio display on a radio would end up bouncing off. with all the rough terrain truck ends up going over.

Kind of foolish to have to quote myself, but the edit function disappears after a certain amount of time.
Update on the link provided: etrailer makes it look like they have the camera in stock. After 6 days and no notification of any kind I inquired about the order status. They stated that the manufacturer had yet to release the camera for sale and it would be near the end of the month before they had one to ship. I called BS on them because I found the exact same camera/screen combo on Amazon. Etrailer order cancelled, Amazon order placed. Have already been given a delivery window from Amazon.
