Changing Transmission Fluid on 4500 PowrReverser

I need to change the transmission fluid on my 4500 PowrReverser. I read thru the manual, but are there any other tips that anyone can give me?

I have no idea how much tranny fluid is in a 4500 PR; but my 4200 HST holds close to 7-gallons, and all I can suggest is have a large container handy to catch the oil. I know, I know...I state the obvious; but changing tranny oil on mine always ends up to be the messiest, most miserable chore of the 200-hour service.

Have fun(?), wear disposable gloves, and keep plenty of rags and oil-dry handy.

I have done mine as I own a 4500 as well. Like mjn said, have large containers available. It seems easier to handle a couple containers that aren't all the way full and less chance for spillage. Be sure to change the filter and take the filter screen out and clean/check for debris. It can be a little bit of a pain to refill it when done. Just take your time to avoid any messes! Good luck! They're ALL a messy chore - doesn't matter make or model!! Have changed the tranny fluid on 4 different tractors around the place and have oily (still) shirt sleeves to prove it! :laughing: My advice is do not -- do not attempt that job on a gravel driveway...
