Seems pretty cut and dry, drain tranny, drain differential, change filters, refill. My plan is to warm up, make sure all hyd. cylinders are contracted. Am I missing anything?
I still have a small leak, 5 gals over 500+ hours. I think it is where trans hooks up to motor. Will address when it increases...

It's pretty straightforward. It is a lot of fluid to deal with, so having a plan is a good idea. I use a large plastic storage tub to drain into, and empty it after each drain bolt so it's easier to dump.
If this is the first service, the factory installed hydraulic filter(s) can be a bear to remove. There are numerous threads here on TBN with tips on difficult filters.

Thanks. I have numerous 5 gallon pails I'm figuring on using. Have to see how they fit under tractor, swapping out as they fill, using cut down pails. This is a used tractor, changed filters a few times, now a complete oil change. Not sure how much differential holds, but complete system is 8.8 gals.

Prepared is the key. Only issue is after draining both tranny and diff. plus 2 filters, only have about 6 gals out of 8.8. I know cylinders hold some, but still short. Letting drain overnight, then we'll see what total was.

If oil comes from the earth, I figured I'd just dump it back in the earth...

My dad used to do that. Not good. I made him stop, then I started changing his oil and disposing of it properly.

Lighten up Francis, it was a joke...

My buddy has ramps on a hillside for his L3830, for all oil changes, which would be nice.

I screwed 2x6 together and drove my tractor up on top. That way my 5 gal pails will fit underneath.

I've done this many times now. 50, 450 and 850 hours and also greasing my SB subframe before I drilled holes

in it for easy access.
