I just came across an old mortar mixer cheap but it doesn't have an engine on it. I was wondering if I could convert it over to an electric motor. I have a 5Hp electric motor I could use. The only problem is that the motor is 3 phase which I don't have but was thinking about building a phase converter out of another electric motor I have to run the mixer motor.
I know it sounds like a lot of trouble to do this but I have these electric motors and I don't have a gas motor with gear reduction on it. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever done this before and if so how did you gear the electric motor and in the end how did it work out?
