Kubota L3240 HSTC
I have a soon to be 1 year old Kubota Grand L 3240HSTC with only 20 hours of light duty use on it. I am going to change engine oil and filter (even though oil still looks new) and am asking if hydraulic and HST filters should be changed also. I know manual advises to do it at 50 hours, but it has been almost a year and probably 1/2 those hours were from moving snow last winter. Temperature ranges from -20 to 100+ during the year and I am thinking about the condensation being in there. I don't think I would change those fluids, just the filters. Dealer wants $120.00 for the 2 filters. What would you do? Also I am thinking about using Rotella diesel oil when I change it. Is there any warranty concerns doing this?

Its cheap insurance, and better if you do it yourself, I would just change the engine and HST oil (&filters) all at once, typically the gear sets and any metallic flakes are evident in the first couple changes. And I personally have always done mine sooner than later, but I can also say.. I have never had a mechanical engine failure or tranny failure of any kind in 49 years in any of my machinery, toys, or autos! I also write the hours and date of change in the back of each owner manual (It can also make the difference when someone is trying to work the price down if you should ever sell it, and also just a good reminder)
s far as the warranty issue, as long as the fluids meet or exceed the manufactures recommendations, they don't have any legal findings in a US court! It doesn't matter who makes it.

go ahead an do your 50hr complete service on your tractor.that means engine oil an filter hydro oil an filters.an check your air filter rad screen an clean if needed.now its going tobe costly so dont be shocked.i may change over to rotella T oil as thats what we run in our farm tractors.

Engine oil and filter once a year, if hours aren't reached. Hydro oil and filter by the hour per manual.

Rotella is good stuff.

I would hold off doing the Hydro until you hit the 50 hour mark. The only reason for changing the HST and Hydro filters at 50 hours is to capture anything that wasn't removed before assembly. If you change it early there could be "stuff" that hasn't yet made it to the filters yet. I used Rotella T6 synthetic oil when I change my engine oil. It's not much more and you'll get the benefit of synthetic when starting your Kubota on those cold winter days. Walmart and Autozone carry it (along with other places). I bought all my filters from a dealer on eBay, everything from the air filters to the fuel filter.

Do the engine oil and filters for sure. I write the dates and activity in magic marker on the underside of the hood as it helps remind me of what/when happened when I check oil.

When your engine reaches operating temp the condensation will be burned out. As long as you let it reach operating temp when you run it and actually it should reach high enough temp before you start running/operating it.
Everyone has told you what they would do. I would not do any of it until it reaches the hours that your manual says for it to reach.

With the operating temperature range you listed, I would strongly suggest a 5w-40 HDEO. That would be a Shell Rotella T6, or equivelent. Philip.

I would wait on the Hydro filters and go to the Wix filter website & check for a replacement, could save you a considerable amount of $$$.

Last I check, Kubota and Wix filters were very close in price here.
