Kubota BX2200
I currently have a Kubota BX2200 with a 60" MMM purchased new in 2001. It has about 825 hrs on it and have been very happy with it. I'm looking to trade and I'd like some opinions from you smart guys.
As background, I mow about 2.5 acres of yard endlessly and 3 acres of pasture twice a year. I disk about 1/2 acre for garden and I use a 4' blade for various projects.
I've looked at the new BX's. Nice looking and ,I hope, solidly built, but I really don't like the two-pedal design. What a PITA.
I looked at JD-OK but too much money.
A neighbor has a MF GC2310. Nice machine, comfortable, capable.
I'd like to hear about pros and cons on BX 23 , 24, 25 vs. GC 2300, 2400, 2600.
Thanks

I haven't bought one yet but have tried them at a dealer that sells both Massey and Kubota. The salesman had me try something. The GC2410 would pick itself up off the ground with the front and rear buckets at idle and the Kubota wouldn't. He said the GC has more hydraulic power. You say you don't like the twin pedal? The new GC's have two pedals.
I also tried the John Deere 2305. Not enough time on them to compare directly but the JD was comfortable, I like the position of the fel joystick way better than the GC or Kubota.....but for the dollar all my research has shown that the Massey GC has by far the most standard features of all the brands. Not saying any of them are bad, but the GC has the most for the lowest price (in my area anyway.) Not to mention all the threads in Massey forums seem to be about how good their tractors are performing compared to "how do I fix this?" in most of the other cases.

Ditto Paystar.... I found the MF 2310 to be quite a bit more beefy in its construction, particularly in the backhoe. Lower engine speed for the same --or better-- power is true.

At the time I bought mine (1-1/2yrs ago), the MF with same equipment was more than the BX. However, the zero percent @ 5 yrs made the MF actually less overall. Very pleased with mine.

Thanks for the feedback Paystar and irvingj. I'm really looking for pros and cons about the GC's. They are not too common around here, but from my research they seem to be sturdy machines. As a Kubota owner, I have experienced most of the known problems - cracked fuel tank, leaking steering hoses, dead fuel guage, etc. A number of friends have JDs and NH so I've got an idea about their little problems. So, I'm really looking to hear about the really great things ( and the not-so-great things ) about the GC's.

Thanks

I purchased a GC2410 in Oct 2008 and have been happy with it. It has about 65 hours and the only issue so far is the fuel gage stopped working at about 10 hrs (which will be fixed under warranty this winter).

I tested the BX24 and the GC2410 and liked them both. The main selling points for the GC2410 were the beefier and slightly more powerful backhoe (and it had a larger standard bucket), the two pedal drive design plus a dedicated brake pedal, and the financing (0% for 72 months). I also looked at JD, but they seemed a bit more expensive but for very similar capabilites.

Both dealerships were very close to my house (within 5-10 miles) so it wasn't an issue for me, but dealer support and parts availability is something else you may want to consider.

Very pleased with mine.
* Kubota is 0 % also there fore you can't finance more with MF and pay less than for the Kubota. ;)
