Anyone know anything about a Champion brand wood splitter from TSC (in Canada, don't know if they have in the US).

I would like to know if they are any good, there is a 22 ton on sale for $999 which seems pretty affordable.

The splitters that TSC sells in the US are Husky brand, I'll bet there the same though.
I have a 22 ton model.

I noticed that splitter in the flyer as well. The one I saw looked well built. It is built in China and a Chinese engine. Did you buy oner? If so how do you like it?

I have a Speeco 3pt splitter. Well made and does a good job of splitting. We split two dump truck loads for the church and there was only two huge pieces that it couldn't split.

I did buy it. So far it's been fine. The 22 ton is a lot smaller than the one I've been borrowing from my uncle but the tilt table mode and towing benefits are great in the tests I have done. The engine sure looks small, but I grabbed a few big knarly old chunks of wood and it walked right through them. The 'log catchers' on the sides are great too so the wood does not fall on the ground every time you split. That will be a back saver for sure. Cycle time is not bad either. The ram pushes a wedge and the I beam has an "end plate" on it that the end of the log rests against. Thus the ram pushes through the log from the cylinder side. This is interesting as the log slips off the end plate sometimes so I'm going to have to put some more grip bumps on it.

I don't have much wood to split right now, but I think for the money and mobility I made a good buy. I did look at the speeco 3ph but I can't get my tractor in the forest on the narrow ATV trails so I ruled that out.

Update.

Used the new splitter last week on some very big chunks of elm and sugar maple. Was splitting for my neighbor who has an outdoor boiler so the logs were in 24 inch pieces. Some were over 20" around.

The splitter went through them, knots and all, no problem. I am very pleased, particularly for the price.

Having heated with wood for 25 years and using many variations of wood splitter I recently purchased a 22 ton Champion wood splitter and am not only completely satisfied with its splitting power I am very pleased with the sloped splitting blade that really aids in keeping odd shaped wood in the splitter. Terrific design. I added the log catchers to the side to complete the package.
I can also attest to the sincere and quality support from Champion. On initial start-up I had a small leak in a hydraulic fitting and the support I received as outstanding. They immediately got the part out to me with no hesitation and this issue was resolved with a thorough follow up.
I was convinced enough I went out and bought a Champion generator shortly after.

I saw this 22 ton model at a not-so-near-to-me Lowes the other day.

Champion Power Equipment

I like everything about it except the no name engine, though it was a good sized horizontal shaft engine. Probably Chineese. The most interesting part is the stroke is adjustable at 24", 20" and 16". Most of what I split is between 16" - 18" so it would be nice to reduce the cycle time by adjusting the stroke to 20". I was just passing through and stopped at this Lowes and was not in a position to buy nor ready. Unfortunately, per Lowe's web site, they don't even offer Champion splitters so I'm not sure I'll ever find this model near me should I decide to buy it.

Anyone else have experience with Champion splitters? Or know how the adjustable stoke cylinder works?
