I have one & it works well, just be careful not to over do it.

Well I'll be, never heard of such a thing. Suppose it works well for someone in the business, I just clamp mine in the vice to tighten it up, works for the occational user like me.

If you have too much tension on your chain or pinch the bar a good closing tool and rail dressing tool help out. You can cut yourself pretty good on the edge of the bar with the burl that wears out on the bar guides. I also flip my bar over when I take the chain off to sharpen it. You would have to real bend your bar pretty good to need a closing or opening tool though.

I think the bar closer got delivered but they haven't gotten a chance to use it.
I was talking to them about it and they are needing it for their end trimmer that has a hydraulically driven chain and bar to even up a whole bundle of lumber in one swipe. I try to remember to post on how well it works for them.

When I pinch a bar I use a blunt screwdriver to OPEN it up.

Dressing the bars is important, not only to prevent blood loss but also enhance chain life.

I would use a screwdriver as well. I can't remember the last time I need to open up the guide. Then I use a fine flat file to dress the rails on the bar or a dremel tool with a grinding disc. Every time I take the chain off to sharpen I clean out the slot in the bar with a good cleaning tool and wash all of the junk out of the roller tip as well with WD-40 or something along those lines. Then grease the roller tip if it has a grease hole..
