Cement Mixer to fit BX 23?

BX 23 arrives tomorrow, and I'm already 6 projects in! Wondered if anyone knows of a cement mixer that will fit the BX23? I went onto Woods site and didn't see anything, nor Kubota.

What brand of mixer is that? I looked on your website and it said it was a 1/3 yard capacity - the Kubota manual for the BX23 says the 3pt hitch setup takes an implement up to about 375 pounds - a mixer loaded up will weigh in way more than
that. It also looks like there is a hydraulic cylinder for the top link - is that for dumping?

The above post might give you some insight. For my small jobs I really like my set-up. If I needed a lot, I'd just order it and have it delivered.

Here is a 5 cubic ft. PTO driven model from Northern tool & Eqpt.:

Northern 3ph PTO Cement Mixer

The unit is 215 lb. Water weighs 8.8 lb/gal and there are 7.8 gal. per cubic ft. so 5 cubic ft. of H20 weighs 343.2 lb. To a point, the molecules in the cement mix fit in between the water molecules, making it even heavier until you pass the saturation point. Cement is HEAVY stuff, wet or dry. Do some careful calculations before you put one of these things on & load it up. You might think about running the thing at less than full capacity.

Also remember that the 3ph on a BX is not really full size Cat. 1 There are some Cat. 1 implements that the arms on a BX cannot accommodate. The arms will spread to different widths at different heights as well. Check the distance between the pins carefully as well as how wide you can get the arms apart; wouldn't want to buy something that's too wide to fit. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

glsweet, just curious, do you really have a BX sized cement mixer? When I went looking for a mixer I did check with you guys and the mixer you had was sized about the right size for the Kubota B2910 or larger. I didn't see any mixers from any source that I would even feel comfortable using with a small frame CUT, let alone with a Sub-CUT.

Did you guys get a mini-size mixer because I can't find it on your site???

Does it require the BX to have a rear hydraulic remote for dumping?

Also, how does it mount so that it overcomes the low lift height of the BX series tractors because I would question if there is enough lift height to actually dump the load completely if the drum size has not been reduced or reshaped???

Details man we need details!!!

This was my main reason for the post. The limitations of the Cat 1 and height were my biggest concern, and I wasn't able to find anything by scouring the web. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

My smallest CUT is a TC24D and it seems to be too small to effectively use a mixer (also I didn't add a rear hydraulic remote to it). I really would like to see a smaller size mixer, one that might only do 2 bags of mix for smaller tractors (it would also be nice if they made a hand crank dump? or possibly tie the hydraulic line forward into the FEL hydraulics for dumping?). But from what I can find, and I admit to stopping my search last fall, all the mixers are basically the Cosmo mixer and are fairly large and fairly heavy and are probably best sized for medium or large frame CUTs.


So I guess the questions for glsweet are still up in the air!?!

That's exactly what I was hoping to find! Maybe we should send this thread to Woods Estate Line or something, of course then it would take years to come out, and probably cost way too much!

I was wondering the same thing - all of the mixers I have seen seem too large for the SubCUT class tractors. I have a BX23 and the manual claims the 3pt will support an implement up to about 375 pounds, figure two to three bags of Quickcrete premix at 80lb each + water and that only leaves you 100 to 150 pounds or so for the mixer assembly and you have exceeded the 3pt weight limit. All of the mixer small 3pt mixers I saw said they would do 1/3 yard - that is way more than the BX23 would handle. Wonder if Woods would make an "Estate" series mixer?
