I thought I saw a post on here with a similar problem but could not find it. Anyone else have a problem where one of the front tires looks like it wobbles while riding?

Jack the front end up & see if there is any play on that wheel. I have some real rough areas of lawn where the front wheels of my 2544 appear to wobble, but it's just the (normal) play in the steering and the way the axle pivots.

I have a 2005 CC2042 that I purchased this past May. I don't have the wobble, but it looks like I have a slight "toe out" on my right front tire. I haven't been able to find any adjustment or look the manual over thoroughly yet. It seems to tear up the grass somewhat when I'm cutting around my trees counter clockwise. I've slowed downed to a crawl going around them and that helps. I haven't been able to get it back to the dealer to have them check it. Love the shaft drive; the hum of that Kohler Twin; and the cut of the high lift blades! The 3 to 1 blades are crap though! And I have removed my head light bulbs and the reversre mow toggle. Bought the brush guard bumper and a set of baby moon hubcaps. Looks as good as it mows. I've had allot of neighbors comment on how my lawn looks.
Have fun with your new 2042

My 2042 had a severe case of front wheel tow-out when I got it. According to the manual, it should tow IN, not OUT. I readjusted the linkages so there is a slight tow in now. I can't say it drives any better, but I also have the abovementioned problem of tearing up the grass on sharp turns.

Baby moon hub caps? Where did you get them? From CC?

The front wheels on my 2544 wobble while riding. It's really only noticeable when driving at high speed on the road. It appears the rim stamping isn't welded to the axle bearing housing straight. It's not real bad, but I'd say there's a 1/4" of wobble. Looks bad, but doesn't affect performance one bit.

Of greater concern is the fact that I pulled out the grease fitting from the wheel hub while lubricating it. To my dismay, it's just a long straight fittingjammed into a punched hole on an angle. Really quite cheesy. My grease gun is new, so the zerk head is pretty tight. Yanked the sucker right out. I'll have to figure a way to make that a better setup. It really should have a welded-on threaded nut for a proper 45 deg. fitting.

I pulled two grease fittings off my 2544 while greasing. Where do you get these push in fittings?

McMaster Carr is a good place, as is almost any good auto parts store that caters to heavy duty applications (tractors, trucks, etc) as most cars today don't have fittings.

I've found though that the fittings on the front wheels aren't standard (or at least available anywhere). The other fittings I pulled out I just tapped back into place.

I pulled out fittings from the plastic deck wheels, one of the steering spindles and one of the front wheels. They are just lame little press fit fittings, rather than proper threaded fittings.

I'm sure eventually I'll get some epoxy and glue 'em all in. It's the only gripe I've had so far about my 2544. Otherwise I love it.

does your 2042 still tear up the grass on sharp turns? mine does and I am trying to find a solution to it. I don't think my tires are toed out, it looks like they are slightly toed in.
