CC 1430 blower belt

My 92 1430 has a problem breaking blower belts. When I installed a new Gates 6890 belt, the only one to match the original MTD754-0330,the belt goes on without a hitch, only to discover the auger rotated the wrong direction. To remedy this I changed the dirrection of the belt going through the tensioner and pulleys,but, now the auger turns and works properly and the belt crosses over itself and rubs against itself. I'm worried the rubbing will cause further belt breakage. Any suggestions as I don't have the origial manual and cann't find one for this machine?

I had a CC 1430 for many years. The belt for the snow thrower is a tricky one to route. I don't have the manual anymore, but you should be able to find the routing from a CUB dealer. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
