Me and some of the local farmers keep in touch while doin chores. some time the occasional trucker or state trooper chimes in and we talk about the good ole days! Who knows maybe we could make some friends and talk about the old times with the old lady friends and old times sluggin back a few with the good ole boys!!

Actually this is about as good as cycle 24 is going to get. Cycle 24 has not been all that good of a cycle. Assuming of course you are interested in DX (distance) communication.

I don't understand why more folks are not taking advantage of GMRS frequencies...?so much better than c.b...!

small hand-held GMRS radios have very good range and the technology has very much improved battery longevity...

CB's operate off of the tractor's battery. And can be had for 30 dollars or so.


I don't have one on my Massey, but I do in my road tractor(Freightliner). I just go by my name...........Don

i have a box full of cb 's in the garage. i youst to have one in my big truck, always kept a spare the talk on there was so bad at last i very seldom had mine on unless i was running with someone. never thought of one on the farm tractor.

Yep, Got a box of CBs in the garage as well. People see my ham antenna in the yard and try to give me old CBs all the time. I used to convert some to 10 meters and give them to new hams but haven't done that for a while. The new ones are more complicated than the old ones. Now I can't even give them away. Tried to sell several at a recent yard sale and couldn't get even a dollar each for them!
