Don't know if you read this yet, but it was finally released that the new upcoming 15 litre International Truck engine is indeed a C15 Cat. So now they have an alliance of International, MAN and Cat.
It will be an advanced egr engine (no scr) but they will not say weather it will use Acert technology or something different. Let's just hope it performs better than the current Acert's.

You kinda had to see that coming. Seemed funny to be releasing a Cat truck with no Cat engine.

The days of spec'ing what engine you want in what truck are now gone. International also said they will likely drop Cummins as an offering after 2010.

Those days have been an America exclusive.. we never had that with trucks in Europe.

At my job, the loader factory, there used to be an option between Cummins and John Deere untill last year. It is simply too costly to maintain two lines of engines with all these emission standards, soot filters, and more. In the old days we sold loaders with Detroit for export to the middle east, DAF for the Dutch market, and Mercedes and Deutz for the German market. The ones with DAF engine are still the most wanted models for export to africa.

Ya, I read it in an email from Todays Trucking (I get all kinds of trade magazines and email alerts). I think they are at Today?s Trucking.com: The Truck News Site - Canadian website and magazine publishing information and content on truck news, trucking regulations, trucking industry, fleet management, owners/operators and the latest in trucking products and trucking Look under "Lockwoods Product Watch".

Renze: you probably already know, but DAF is making the new big bore PACCAR engine for Kenworth and Peterbilt. (The small ones..... PX series I think they are called...in the class 5 to 7 trucks are Cummins.) You can even order a Kenworth C500 cabover in Canada for off road oil field service that is essentually a DAF cabover. It just replaced the K100 cab.

Yes i know... The 12.9 liter version up to 560 hp is the MX, the 9.2 liter is, i think the CX ??
Everything smaller, is rebadged Cummins. If Paccar hadnt decide to discontinue the 820 and 620 engines in 1996, we'd still use them today, instead of moving via 6BTA and 6CTA, to currently the 4045 and 6068 John Deere engines.
In a 620 you could throw a handfull of sand in the oil sump and it would just keep on running... Thats why they like them so much in Africa, even though Cummins has a broader parts network.
