I am working on this unit and have changed 5 bogies and 4 idlers so far and I am getting to the point of getting rid of it. However, I am in the process of striping one of the idlers with the view of changing the bearings. I have got to the snap ring and I am rather stumped as to how to get the snapring out. Has anyone got any ideas? One other thing that comes to mind, it it suposed to be a sealed unit with oil in it. At the time of striping the unit it seams that no oil has been anywhere near the unit. Can antone tell me how I can lube the axles?
Thanks for any help.

The new models have a sealed bearing I think but the older ones 2008 or so on back have a car wheel type bearing with just a seal and no way to grease them. I had several 257b models (same setup) and after about 1000 hrs you will start to have problems. I went round and round with cat over this. We loved the machines as the ride and ground contact for traction and wet ground traction is way better than the hard tract machines like Tack or bobcat. Cats responce was the rollers need to be cleaned daily to keep dirt out (ha ha). All they had to do was put bulldozer type seals and oil in them and they wouldnt have had a problem and they could have had the market covered. Another case of big company knows better. We fought this problem for years because in all other aspects we felt the skidsteer outperformed the others by far.
