We have a cat 287b that we have done very little work on but are now changing a track and in checking the boogie wheels found a seal that was leaking. How is the best way to disassemble the 10 inch boogie wheels. We worked for a long time to remove the seal with chisels and a small bar and such and finally got one out but there has to be a better way! Also expected to see a snap ring or something underneith but it appears to be a soild ring holding the bearing in. Does it just press apart or is there something that we are not seeing?
I have searched for the answer here but havn't found it yet if it exists so I thought I would just ask.
