I have a New Holland tractor with Cat1 three point hitch. A friend has given me some implements with Cat2 hitches. Where can I purchase Cat1 to Cat2 pins or is there another way of using the implements?

I don't know if you've tried to hook them up to your tractor yet or not but for some cat 2 implements, there is more than just the pins that is different as the width of the cat 2 is wider than cat 1.

The lower lift arms on a three point cat 1 hitch are 26 inches wide. A cat II hitch is 32 inches wide.

I bought a pallet fork/bale fork that had cat 2 pins on it thinking my NH T2320 would connect to it, but the lower link arms won't spread wide enough as they hit the tires. So I have to modify it so I can use it on my cat 1 quick hitch.

Here's a link to the ASAE standard on quick hitches that gives some specs.

Thanks for your help. I didn't realise that there was a difference in the width of the lower arms. I will measure them up and see

I believe Cat I comes in two widths it is 26 inch for the smaller tractors and 32 for the larger tractors. My arms on my Kioti spread to 36 inches and I use a cat II quick hitch on some things If my arms only spread to a 26 inch width I couldn't even hook to any of my attachments. My KK 6' disc, my Rhino 6' finish mower, and my Rural King special rotary cutter have outside pin widths of 34-36. All Cat I attachments.

You might be able to:
- Remove CAT#2 pins
- Weld plates which match the plates you took the pins out of to your implement(s) inside the CAT#2 plates ~ 3" on each side & just use hitch pins with a bushing for the CAT#2 hole as needed.

The "U" cradle you will have created is actually stronger as the pin is supported on both sides & is used on larger/heavier implements like a chisel plow.

Actually Cat l 3 pt hitches only come in one width 26"s

I have Cat 2 lift arms on my 3000 thanks to the PO. They are longer and the coupler is wider. However they easily fit my Cat 1 implements and if I don't want any slop I use the bushings mentioned above. They do require a longer 3rd member; about 27' than 24' as I recall. You have to run the ends out so far on the 24" Cat 1 member it becomes unreliable (for me). TSC has both. If you have a couple of pieces of 1 1/2" angle iron (steel) you can cut the threads off the round ones you buy in the store and weld inside the box you make with the angle. Then you can custom build what you want. Works for me. On hole size in your 3rd member you can either install a sleeve there also as required, unscrew a suitable link from an unused member that will fit, or just use your 3/4" pin and let her rattle.

My 2c,
Mark

If Cat I only comes in 26" width, then there is a lot of Cat I implements sold at farm stores that people can't use, because the arms need to open to at least 36" to clear the pins to slide them on. The distance from outside to outside across the lower pins on my Rhino finish mower is 32 1/2 inches, my KK is 34" and my rural king rotary cutter measures 35 1/2 inches.

So either there is two Cat I widths or they are making a lot of small implements with cat I pins and Cat II spacing. My quick hitch that I use on my converted 4 row cultivator is 36" inside width and has cat II pins. I have Cat II lower links with a Cat I upper link. the cultivator has Cat II pins but with Cat III spacing.
