Newbie? Me? Well, combine that with "slow learner" and you probably have it.

Anyway, I know the pin sizes on these catetories differ. I also know that width between pins varies but I'm unclear about what's what and what matters.
Is there a down side to using a Cat. 0 implement on my 24-hp Cat. 1 tractor, assuming the hitch arms will close up sufficiently?
I'm concerned that using a Cat. 0 rear blade or moldboard plow or subsoiler could be harder on the tractor because the narrower spacing could change stresses. I'm not as concerned about the implement because of the tractor's horsepower, and because they're inexpensive, compared with mowers, tillers ans snowblowers, but should I be?

Thanks much for any help and I'll speak up again next time I'm close to getting myself in a jam.

Downside is that cat0 are smaller, thus less work width.. and they are generalyl less heavy duty than their larger counterparts.... thus they are easier to turn into yard art and " pretzle's " IE.. a blade made for a 13 hp tractor on a 24 hp tractor is going to self destruct the first time it hangs on something solid like a stump or big rock. Think of cat 0 stuff as something you could mount on a rider mower.. or ATV.. etc..

Naah... If the arms will hits the cat 0 equipmetn .. it won't hurt the tractor... the cat 0 implement is deffinately the weak link or 'fuse' in this circuit..

You just get the bushings for the lift pins and toplink pin and co.. TSC sells the SPEECO bushings for this.. I just happen to have a toplink bushing here on my desk.. SKU # is: 0 87196082096 and part # is: 02-6900-2

If you could get the plough or blade you are talking about cheap and are prepared to get a little less work done you should have no problem using them. As Soundguy said they may not be build as strongly and not last as long as Cat 1 stuff because they were designed for atv's and GT's.

Soundguy, I thought that Cat 0 and Cat 1 pins were the same size and Cat 0 was just downrated Cat 1 but I could be wrong. I don't see why you would need bushings if that was the case.

A number of manufacturers of bargain-basement implements supply them with Cat. 0 spacing but Cat. 1 pins -- at least the less expensive stuff I'm looking at. If it's no problem for the tractor's hitch, I can live with taking it easy, so I guess that'll work. Thanks much for the guidance.

Grrrr did you read my message where I typed in the TSC and SPEECO part number from the cat 0 to cat 1 toplink bushing???? I'm amazed you can think the pins are the same size when i said i had one of the bushings in question in my hand.. and even provided part numbers!!??

Soundguy, I did read your post but I was meaning more what rkcr said about some implements having cat 0 spacing cut cat 1 pins. I didn't explain it very well. :)

the pins are easy you can find cat1 pins and bolt. on the top link is harder because of hole for pin is smaller

So use a smaller pin. I pull cat 1 implements all the time with a cat 2 tractor.
