Castor drum / wheels72" Woods FM ?

I've a older 72" finish mower I think it's a woods .It has 3 drum rollers on the front and 2 swivel castor wheels on the rear.I'm in the process of making new drum rollers for it as the existing ones were hard plastic the bearings are shot .
So , the new drum castors I made out of 3/8" x 4.5" pipe. My question is do you think puting a bunch of like 1/4"x 1" ? uniformly spaced spikes on these would be helpfull in airiating/thatching...has anyone else done anything similar ?

I think every time you'd make a turn it would tear up the yard in an unwanted not so "aerating" way.

I agree. Do you have a problem with your ground being too packed? Having trouble with getting grass to grow???
