I need to upgrade from my Kubota L4600. While a great tractor, it just isn't meeting my needs today. I need more loader capacity (~3K#'s) and more 3-pt lift capacity and, the L4600 is too narrow (3-pt) for most of my 3-pt equipment which is class 1&2 compatible. I really like its low fuel use but, it's narrow tread and high profile is a problem on the sloped land I use it on now.

I have looked at the John Deere 50x5M tractors but, they seem much more expensive for similar features and capacity. I also don't like their propietary software issues. The Kubota 7060 has the regen emissions which seems to work well but, the Case IH / NH are DPF regen free which is nice. Both have larger tires which is nice in addition to a better stance and more ground weight (L4600 is too light in the rear end).

I'm looking to stay in the low $30K's price point new and don't mind a properly maintained used tractor. What are the pro's and con's of these options? Which options am I over looking?

I have Case IH, NH, Kubota and, John Deere dealer support close by so I'm pretty brand flexible.

TIA,
Sid

Are you looking for cab or open station? I think to stay in the lower 30s new you'll need to consider LS, Kioti, TYM.

Yes, open operator station. With cabs, I'm afraid of breaking the glass or having to use it with the A/C broken.

Sid,
I know the specs say that a 75C will lift over 3000 lbs however, I have a 75a ( open station) with the L 540 loader and I will only lift just over 2000 lbs safely. So if you are dead set on needing to lift 3000 lbs you may want to look into a bit bigger tractor. Otherwise my tractor has been an excellent addition to our farm and has been extremely reliable

At your price point and need for big numbers you may want to take a look at the Rural King tractors, specifically the RK55. Branson may be worth a look as well.

RK55H Tractor | RK Tractors

Or, you might want to forget about HST and move into a utility class tractor with a shuttle shift like a JD 5075E or equivalent.

Curiously none of the three tractors in the subject line are available with hydrostatic transmission.

Curiously none of the three tractors in the subject line are available with hydrostatic transmission.

Very few tractors over 60-horsepower are available with HST.

Large tractors are used in long fields. Forward/reverse direction changes infrequent.

HST has decreased fuel economy relative to shuttle shift.

Shuttle shift may be cheaper to manufacture, therefore cheaper to sell than HST.

I get all that, I’ve been driving tractors for 57 years and have 22 years experience at tractor dealerships, New Holland, CaseIH and Kubota. My point, which you completely missed, is that Tractorable seemed to want to move the discussion away from hydro transmissions when in fact it was never there to begin with.

I didn’t research the transmission options for the tractors in the subject line before posting, I just meant to bring up the point that moving into a utility class machine usually means losing the HST option.
