Case IH 8520 knotter problems

I have a case 8520 square baler that seems to be breaking bales i will get 10 solid bales and then about 2 busted and start back to good bales again. seems that it is not tying or maybe breaking the knots. Last year i replaced the bill hooks the knives the pivits. any similar problems out there.

Not familiar with your baler per say, but knotter function and basics are the same. The first things I would tell you to check are 1. Make sure the needles are almost touching the twine disc when they come up and pass over it. 2. Check the tucker finger or twine finger clearance to the needle. This is the piece that come across the needle and picks up the second twine to the bill hook. This piece again should just clear the needle. 3 check the tension on the twine disc. If it is too loose the twine will pull out of the twine disc and cause missed bales, but when the needles come up on the next tie, the twine will be back in the twine disc. Just some basic things to check out.

I'd check the twine to be sure the thickness is consistant.
