CASE DX55
My 2009 Case DX55 wouldn't crank and the dash glow plug indicator light would not light up, but other lights all worked. This happened out of the blue, it worked fine the last time I used it. After individually bypassing all the safety switches and testing all of the relays and installing a brand new battery, it still didn't work. I found a post on this site regarding a DX45, in which the problem was determined to be a bad battery to starter cable, in which it was only passing several volts and not 12 volts. So, even though I had once already maneuvered the positive cable when I installed the battery, this time I closely inspected and massaged the cable where it was crimped into the battery post clamp, it seemed slightly loose. And wouldn't you know it, I turned the key and the glow dash light came on and it would crank. I took the cable into an alternator shop and they crimped a new post clamp on it. Everything works fine now, thanks to others posting on this site. Just paying it back and hoping this help someone else.

Thanks for posting your solution. Its amassing how something that seems so simple can cause a headache, glad you found the issue.

Also want to mention that the other post had mentioned to run a jumper cable from the battery to the starter to confirm that it is a cable problem. I did this, but it didn't change my situation, it still didn't crank and the glow indicator still did not light up.

Okay, so my original post is a bunch of malarkey. This summer it happened again(4th time) No dash glow plug indicator light and no crank, so after checking everything I could think of again, I was considering that it could need a new safety control module or engine control module but the cost of each is outrageous. So, instead of just ordering a Safety controller relay for $550 and if that didn't work, an engine control module for a similar amount, I had a dealer stop out and diagnose it. After going thru all of the safety switches, starter, relays, etc., it all seemed to be pointing to the safety control module. So I ordered one for $550 from the dealer and installed it and guess what, it worked and has been working fine now for over a month. So, my past fixes of a new battery cable end, installing a new battery, and installing a new glow plug relay(all of which seemed to have fixed the problem at separate times in the past few years) didn't really fix anything and I don't understand why those things allowed the tractor to work for a period of time. Anyway, it's the safety control module and my total cost for this fix was $952 (part and service fee). I attempted to open the old one to see what's up inside, however I couldn't determine anything because the whole inside of the module is filled with a hard rubbery black solid caulky like substance firmly encapsulating everything inside and I couldn't determine anything. Doesn't make any sense to me as to why the problem would disappear by changes far away, as in replacing the battery, or the glow plug relay, or even the battery cable end, but it's working now and I hope the problem doesn't rear its head again.

What you found inside the module more than likely was
an epoxy so you can't fix anything

Thanks for updating us.

You may never know for sure what caused your problem. The changes that you previously may indeed have be real issues that masked themselves with the same symptoms as the safety control module.

It would sure be nice if there was away to bypass the safety control module. If it was just a simple relay it seems like you could just jumper around it but as I understand the safety module has some circuity inside that I'm not sure what it does.
