Case 75xt
Hi, I have a 2001 case 75xt skid steer with over 4000 hrs. I bought it around 3000 hrs. When I purchased it the right side drive was already weak but it has slowly been getting worse. I can't seem to clearly diagnose what the problem is. I had drive motor seal kit put it. Was worse when I reinstalled. Removed again and sent to another shop. They found a small steel ball missing inside which brought it back to about the same as it was prior to seal kit. My own testing and that of different shops seems to show proper pump pressure and case drain is the same on both motors. I swapped lines to the motors and it's not clear to see if the problem follows the pump or stays with the one side. Linkages all appear fine. It drives but is soft on the right side. Corners are slow turning that way. Usually can still get tires to spin but barely.
Also, the last while the loader drifts down on its own. More so when running. Not as much when engine is off. When I go to move the lever to lift the loader arms, the loader drops instead of lifts. As I push lever further out to lift, then the loader arms lift. Is this definitely in the spool valve and not in the cylinders themselves? What do I check first?
Thanks for any help in diagnosing this.

How fast can you raise your loader arms from the ground to full up? I believe the single gear pump has something to do with charge pressure to the wheel drives. Mine was slow when activating the hydraulics and drove "funny" till I replaced it.

So I last touch with this forum for some time... I ended up getting drive motors both rebuilt and it seemed to fix the problem, or most of it. Now I am having other issues that may be related (drive motors were confirmed bad. One had metal debris sent into the system which could have caused further pump issues...). As far as the loader arms, I haven't noticed that they are slow or weak when lifting.
When I work the skid steer, at times I have good drive power and the next moment I have no drive at all, especially on the one side. Also, usually at lower idle, the hydraulic release for my loader controls frequently locks back up. It also does this when I push hard into a pile.
I'm just not sure if it's my hydraulic pump or charge pump that's weak and not producing enough pressure to keep the lock released.

For the weak right side drive, since you've already swapped the lines and had the motor looked at, the problem might lie in the hydraulic pump or a slight internal leak in the motor itself that's hard to detect. Given that the pump pressure seems fine, it could be a flow issue or even a slight misalignment in the linkages that isn't immediately obvious. As for the loader drifting down, this does point towards an issue in the spool valve rather than the cylinders, especially since the loader drops when you initially try to lift it. The drift when running suggests a possible internal leak within the valve, causing the loader to lose pressure. I'd start by checking the spool valve for wear or damage.
