Anyone got one? I'm ready to buy a NH575, but I have a chance at getting a '91 590 turbo extendahoe w/ 4-way bucket. Thing looks brand new. has 5000 hrs showing. I know it seems old, but ti looks in as good a shape as some 5 yr old units I've seen. Super cheap, like $19,000.

Any opinions, thoughts?

That's a big TLB, and not as popular as the slightly smaller 580. Has it been repainted? Most commercial TLBs spend their entire lives setting outside, and the paint suffers a lot for it, so that by the time they are 10 years old they need paint jobs. There is nothing wrong with a good paint job, but it is also often used to hide a lot of sins.

Is it 4x4? If so, the price seems very good, assuming it is in good condition. If not, then the price isn't exceptional, again depending on condition.

And because this model isn't as popular, the resale value is usually lower then the 580 of a comparable vintage, even though it is a larger unit. But in some cases, it is too large for what the owner may want to do, such as when getting into tighter areas, thus the lower demand.

Yeah, it's 4x4, 4 in 1 bucket, extendahoe and a very nice repaint job.
Seems identical in stature to a 580. owners tells me 590 has more HP, it's heavier and more capacity in terms of lifting, so it would seem like it could get in the same spaces as a 580. might make for deeper ruts.

I had to reread what you wrote, I thought you said it was 5 years old which would make it a 590M or SM model and you'd be stealing that machine!!! 19k for a 91 isn't bad. I've seen a '93 for that price so...IMHO I would not buy a NH but that's just me. I think they're very bulky and nothing seems to be really tucked away nicely. A 590S case is a large machine, it's like a 410 (96HP) compared to a 310G (73HP)/310SG (91HP) Deere backhoe, 590 has 100 HP, compared to a 580SM series II or 580SM turbo which is like 95 HP. Do you need a backhoe that large? Either way a Case is a good investment.

When it comes time to resell the Case will probably be easier to sell because of name alone. Also I know there are times when I wish my 580 had more ***** to it, I usually have to keep the front bucket full to add weight to the machine.

If the 590 has a 6 cylinder it will suck fuel like a mother. If its a four cylinder I say go for it. My little 207 diesel is great on fuel. I know the turbo models will use more anyways, but going to a 6 cyl is another leap altogether

Rex, what model 580 do you have? You think the 580 is a little on the light end?

I have a 580C. I could fill the rear tires for weight but I dont want the mess.

When swinging the backhoe around you have to watch it because the machine wants to tip a little, especially with the extendahoe out. I think an extra couple thousand pounds would be helpful sometimes. Of course in mud the weight can be a big hinderance also...

Probably a super K, My former neighbor had two, both were turbo... Still has one. traded the other for a superL and now a super M. The superK is a spare now.
